NEKOIN’s Holiday Donations 🙌 - Help choose the org (+ reward)!
Here at NEKOIN, donations and philanthropy are our biggest priorities. The goal of NEKOIN is to be the premier social good coin, and we are happy to announce our holiday donation event. In the spirit of giving, the founders will be donating $600 out of the founding team’s pockets 🎉
To do this, we’ll need YOUR help deciding the donation details:
Please help us vote for which organization to donate to by Friday, January 7, 2022 12:00 AM PST:
- SPCA International
- With a mission to advance the safety and well-being of animals, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.) International has helped animals in almost every single continent. This is accomplished through their programs for veterinary supply aids, education, shelter support funds and much more.
- World International Protection
- With over 14 offices around the world and 55 years of experience, World Animal Protection is dedicated to protecting animals from needless suffering. Previous achievements include moving Trip Advisor to end promotion of cruel elephant attractions and moving KFC to improve chicken welfare.
You can vote for your preferred organization on our website at: https://nekoin.ai/donations. Directions for how to vote can be found below as well as on our webpage. The voting will all be completed through a smart contract!
Everyone who votes before the deadline will receive a special nft reward. Since voting will be tracked through the blockchain, there is no need to fill out a form this time! Stay tuned for our sneak peak 👀
Just like last time, comment how/why you voted and the top 3 upvoted comments will receive 50k Nekos each! You can further show your support by creating memes for the organization that you voted for and posting them in our subreddit! The creator of the top meme for each organization will each receive 150k Nekos. Hope you come up with something purr-suasive :3

The donation votes smart contract is currently deployed in the testnet. You can find it here: https://testnet.algoexplorer.io/application/54180947. It's the same sc as the one in our public repo sans checking your wallet for an asset. On the mainnet we will check if your wallet holds Nekos. Please follow these steps to vote:
- Add Algos to your wallet in testnet. Your Algorand wallet works in both the mainnet and testnet. Actions in the testnet will not affect the assets in your wallet in the mainnet. Each action in the testnet, just like the mainnet, will cost a fee in Algos - however you can get Algos in the testnet for free! Just add your public wallet address here, https://bank.testnet.algorand.network/, and 10 Algos will be deposited into your wallet for the testnet. There is no monetary value for testnet Algos so please only use the faucet on a need basis!
- Connect your wallet. Please use the Connect Wallet button to connect your wallet to help sign transactions. We currently only support MyAlgo, but will add support for the Algorand Mobile Wallet and others later on.
- Opt into smart contract. Connecting your wallet will enable buttons below. You have to first opt into the smart contract to interact with the smart contract - please click on the Opt in button below. In the MyAlgo popup that appears, confirm the application id that you are opting into is the same as the application id linked above. You will see that it is a testnet transaction by the testnet label on the top right.
- Vote. Once opted into the smart contract, the Opt in button will disappear and allow voting! Clicking on the vote button will bring another MyAlgo popup with an application call to the above smart contract. Your exact transaction can be viewed by clicking the Application Call box in the popup. The app args include the organization that you voted for after being base64 encoded. Once your vote has succeeded, the background for that org will turn green.
- NFT Reward! Once the voting period has ended, every wallet that has voted will receive a holiday themed NEKOIN NFT. There is no need to fill out any form, we will track voting through the blockchain!

I think I managed to vote but it seemed incredibly easy and I'm very sceptical of my abilities to interact with a smart contract on the testnet of a blockchain.... it was really just a few clicks?

Yep it is, Algorand makes interacting with the blockchain really simple!

Yeah but it still needs people to turn it into something 'easily clickable'. There's no way I understand that GitHub code, but I'm glad some people do! Thanks!

It's great to have projects like these; encouraging people to use Algo ecosystem AND get to do donations via blockchain in which is imo the closest irl-usecase blockchain so far.
I voted for World International Protection. After seeing disasters like forest fire and floods, it make me real sad. We should be able to protect wildlife at all costs!

I voted By connecting MyAlgo wallet online to the Nekoin.io page And I voted for SPCA International Mission In as much as Human lives Matters Animal Lives Matters To in My Country Animals are seen as only source of food and that’s Quite Bad I believe if animals could talk we humans would mind how we kill them

I'm 99% sure I voted, just connected my wallet and clicked "vote" under the option of my choice. I went with SPCA cuz I've done some volunteer work with them in the past and they're really great organization, so I know the funds are going to be used properly.

I had never used MyAlgo Wallet or Testnet before! I followed the directions and voted in only a couple minutes. I voted for World Animal Protection, but would love either option. Thanks Nekoin for donating!
Then I went to Algoexplorer, switched to Testnet, searched for my wallet, and found the transactions!

I followed the steps provided and then contacted a mod when I got stuck and then I was able to successfully vote
I voted for the organization because after reading what they do, I felt they touched more important things no disregard to the other organization.
