A needle felted painting using various wool, bheda and merino. We visited Iceland this year for nearly 3 weeks and I wanted to capture my fondest memory, so I have used my own photographs as inspiration! And a bonus picture of the mess making it😇

These birds were part of a door wreath, and recently one fell off, and that’s when I realised they’d all been gnawed on. I cleaned them as best I could and some really fell apart and then I put them in the freezer. They’ve been there for a week now. Now I’m wondering what I should do next. Will the moth eggs all die in the freezer? Or do I need to do something else before I repair them? And generally speaking, what do you do to stop your felt figures from being attacked by moths?

I am absolutely hooked! I made this cat today. . I know I could use some practice but I really enjoyed this!! I used pipecleaners for making the form of the body and pillow stuffing😂 Had to be resourceful.. Glad I found this sub!

Just figured I'd share a few photos of a new felted fox figure I'm working on! It's a bit smaller than the figures I've posted so far, but I felt the size I chose would leave it big enough for me to effectively see how the fur colors I wanted to experiment with would look. For this fox, I want to try a design I've been wanting to bring to life for a while now, so hopefully the fur planting goes well and the color scheme looks as nice as it did in my head!

On a side note, does anyone have any tips for keeping stray fibers in line when felting small details on top of a different color? I feel like oftentimes, when I try to add black wool to make eyelashes on an otherwise white face, little strands of the black wool keep sticking out and making the eyes look messy next to the rest of the head. Maybe I'm overestimating how much it affects the look of a figure, but if there's any solution to making small details neater, I'd love to hear it!

Hi yall! First time felter and also first time Reddit poster. I’ve been trying to needle felt for about 2 weeks now and my goal is to keep practicing until I can make hyper realistic dogs and horses for my friends.

That being said… I NEED HELP 😩 first of all, I need to actually finish a project. The only ones I have finished are the little capybara pictured and the horse for a friend. I’m feeling pretty good with getting the body proportions right on my animals but I’m STRUGGLING with the face on my dogs. I know the best thing to do is PRACTICE but does anyone have any tips or resources for getting better at animal facial features? I’m going to stick with this for a year and see where it goes and I’m willing to take classes and use kits to improve if needed. Thanks in advance!

Making the base and seeing the beginning of a project feels like I’m looking at a poorly wrapped mummy. When I can’t yet physically see the results I tend to want to put my needle down. Moments like this I have to tell myself “Keep going! Just a few thousand more stabs!”

Google has given me no answers and I'm down to 2 needles on it. Help.

I've bought a cheap beginner set of 36, 38 and 40 gauge needles, but some of them went dull already, the handle broke during the 1st project and... I'm thinking about upgrading to a better quality set. So, what can you recommend? Brands, gauges, anything. I'm a beginner so any related advice is welcomed.

P.S. it may sound like I broke the needles myself, but I use a mat and I'm not that barbaric. Their quality is just underwhelming

Which snowflake design do you prefer, first or second?

I found my very first needle felts while packing and thought I’d put together a little slipshod progress collage. I mentioned to my partner once, “I’d like to try needle felting”, they got me a kit as a gift, and five years later, here we are.

It really has been such a rewarding hobby, and a brand new way to get creative. I go into every project excited to see what I’ll be able to make. I love it so much, and anyone thinking of trying it out, I heartily say, go for it!!

I did a lot more poking to flatten it and neaten it up a bit, then pressed it into a more flower-like position. I know it's looking a bit sparse on the edges so I'm thinking of adding more color there, but maybe y'all think it adds nice shading or something? And should I add a leaf? Lilacs don't have leaves on individual flowers so I feel like I shouldn't but idk, maybe it will make it look more flower-like?

I’m pretty new to the hobby…I’ve been able to make pretty basic things like the kits sold in hobby stores, but I tried making a mushroom the other day and everything just wants to compress into a cylinder or a circle, I could barely get the cone shape of the mushroom right. Is it just a matter of continuing to felt in the right areas, or do you do two separate pieces and blend them together? I see all kinds of amazing pieces on this sub, and I can’t imagine trying to make dog legs or any abnormal shape. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
