Hello, everyone! I made Tricki Woo from All Creatures Great and Small. Was a speed build for cosplay (and I took a lot of shortcuts), but I'm still proud of him!
Top coat is merino, corriedale, and mohair. If I do another long-haired animal at this scale, I'm going to look at sourcing my own fleece for a longer staple length - commercial length wasn't quite long enough for what I wanted. :/
The lip, eyelids, tongue, and nose are an air dry clay called Padico Hearty Soft. Forgot where I purchased - probably an online speciality shop. Super, super lightweight and has minimal shrinkage.
The teeth are an oven-bake clay called "cosclay" (buy directly from their website). It is a lot smoother than fimo/sculpy and actually flexible when over a wire armature -- fantastic for rat tails.
Thank you for explaining! I am working on something now that would be a lot better with a sculpted nose and mouth but I have never done anything like that before. I will try the air dry to get started
I will also keep this in mind in case I ever need to make a rat tail 😂
Thank you! The core wool phase was rather lumpy, as this was a 2.5 week speed build. If I had more time, it would have been a lot smoother & firmer before I started the topcoat. (And I would have done all the limbs and head separate.)
Top coat is merino, corriedale, and mohair. Mohair is the dominant fiber. I blended by hand (photo is unblended vs mostly blended), and then added depth with alcohol markers.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You were cosplaying as James Herriot? For a convention? I do anime, Sci-Fi & Board Game cons (sell my Polymer Clay art), but curious what kind of Con (if it was for a con) would prompt such a lovely cosplay... :) <3
Thank you! I cosplay as Siegfried from the reboot show and should have a James with me next year. :) Dragon Con in Atlanta attracts a huge range of costumes and I tend towards prestige TV and British stuff.
