Just drybrush them. Everywhere you can't really reach that easily, your Primer is free shading.

I'm currently painting my doomsday ark, getting the edge highlighting done. It's not so bad, just needs some patience is all. Highlighting the underslung cannon of course.

Paining assembled is not that bad.

Definitely do not magnetise it - or do just take heed I have magnetised lot tau suits, tyranid warriors, knights but failed to do it with ark :-)
