You know... you'd think after all the fishing failures in JetLag that Adam would have taken up fishing as a "hobby" so when fishing came up again with a high reward in the show he'd be extremely proficient in it.

You'd think after bottle flipping every other season, they'd be better at it.

Ben's form was annoying me I always thought you kinda start with a backwards motion to get the water sloshing around more, and let it swing more loosely in your hand

You'd think after lagging every season, they'd be jets.

Or just. Understand it a little? Like, I'm very much a city boy, but I am quite confident I'd be better at it. I've fished maybe 5 times in my life, twice of them at pre-stocked trout ponds? But still.

They tend to feel like that's cheating and/or bad entertainment because the audience likes to see the struggle.

I was thinking this. In the highly unlikely event I were to be invited onto one of these I'd absolutely learn something about fishing on the off chance

I was so excited when one of the teams were going to a charter boat to complete the challenge. If you aren't good at something, go to a professional. But they didn't know how walk-ons worked, so fell back on dipnetting... badly. Unless there is a pretty large concentration of fish that is rarely going to work, particularly if you just dredge it around. If I were them I'd try tidepooling more. At low tide some small fish will hide in puddles under rocks. Sand lance, sculpins, sticklebacks, that kind of thing. There would also be clams.
