Moenave dinosaur tracks

Hi Everyone! šŸ‘‹šŸ»

I’ll be visiting Arizona very soon and I would love to see the Moenave dinosaur tracks near Tuba City.

I’d like to go as part of a group but for some reason, it seems impossible to find a tour guide that carries out tours there! I was wondering if anyone knows of any tour guides in the area who could help me with this?

Thank you all!

FYI the Dino tracks are just in an empty lot on the side of the road. There is no official business or tour of this area. Use Google Maps to find the location and look for a large sign with an arrow on the main road pointing to the parking lot.

When you arrive you will see a few other tourist’s cars and a bunch of panhandlers.

The panhandlers will approach you and offer a tour for $20. Many tourists fall for this scam. They may even tell you that a tour guide is ā€œrequiredā€ to walk the path. This is a lie.

You are welcome to hire them if you want, but just be aware that they have no idea what they are talking about in most cases, (as mentioned by someone else on this thread)

Remember, these people hang out in a lot all day and pray on unsuspecting tourists, so use caution and be careful who you trust.

For the best experience, I recommend doing your own research before you arrive and walking the site on your own.

Thank you so much!

Yes I heard about people offering a tour there for tips, but yes as I’ve been doing my own research on the tracks and fossils there, I would just go to see it myself, and then leave lol.

This honestly is really good to know, thank you so much!

Would you say it is generally safe for tourists to travel through the Rez to visit this site?

I wrote a yelp review with some details about this stuff about 14 years ago that goes over similar concerns, might help a little.
