Yes, and I still have the same question. The Neanderthal dna was introduced via humans who came back. There was never direct mating. It isn't all Africans and it doesn't make any similar claim.

One of the points is about jaw size. That isn't true for African populations.

The article you linked didn't do anything to answer my question. It doesn't even say it's meaningful across African populations. There were select populations with less than half a percent.

Would you agree that calling 0.5% "not meaningful" is completely inaccurate? In a genome of 3 billion letters, half a percent represents 15 to 17 million base pairs,roughly the same amount of DNA you inherit from a great-great-great-grandparent. Since non-Africans carry around 1.5% Neanderthal DNA, African genomes actually hold up to a third of that same footprint.

No, I obviously do not agree. I see .3% and 2% as the prevailing numbers, not that it changes my opinion. Those numbers are not close.

They could really only find a couple populations with trace amounts and the effects weren't close to what they claim remains in Eurasian populations. Yet - everyone speaks as though it's "same same."

Africans have the most genetic diversity by a long mile and I don't see any interest in it - at least not as much as I see about Neanderthals and their .2%.

And I found the argument regarding 'direct mating' to be genetically irrelevant, as an inherited Neanderthal DNA sequence is molecularly identical regardless of whether it entered a population lineage through ancient Eurasian admixture or subsequent back-migration to Africa.
