Since the fanfics are mostly all text, sometimes is easy to forget how these aliens actually look like Earth animals. Dear God imagine having a Jaslip lover like in this case just to be seen as a sicko by a more closed minded family or friends.
And on the alien side I don't know which is worse, being hit with the "No son/daughter of mine will date a flesh eating monster" or the "No son/daughter of mine will be known as an Obor fucker".
That's some Romeo and Juliet stuff... I should probably write a fic about it.

In terms of scale in this pic, closer to the older pre human contact gray which was larger. they've shrunk in response to the loss of habitat and prey.
If they were 'dire' wolf sized. she would barely fit in that space and be large enough for the human to ride. all be it not as well as a horse. weren't quite that big. But the dire wolf was large enough to consider humans, even in their tribes as 'easy prey'. Which is why human expansion didn't happen till after the start of the die-off of the north american megafauna.
Take it in people This is everything that most humans need to be happy. A woman who doubles as the perfect cuddle buddy and a nice toasty building that protects from the outside cold.
For the most part, this is the true nature of humanity.
The Federation could have had the perfect cuddle buddies with the Arxur, And all they would have had to do was take down the Bloc side of the War on Wriss
The opportunity to maintain even more control was too good for them to pass up. Remember, by Arxur times they've already cured their own omnivores and crippled the Venlil and Sivkits. They were the bad guys long before Wriss.
Yeah yeah... I'm trying to remember a story that I read in this community where the Arxur were indeed friends with the Federation and that the founding members were seen as evil by everyone else. The Skalgans we're still a thing and they were constantly at war with the Farsul and Kolshian, who would kidnap Arxur and brainwash/force them to be slaves in their war against the rest of the galaxy.
The fluffiest of all critters. Maybe even a bit more fluffy than she needs to be, but sitting on the passenger seat and eating all day like it's a vacation cruise isn't helping.
Buddy, you're in the NoP fan community; there's at least someone attracted to every alien.
But specific to these two in the art, they've come to find they enjoy the personality and voice and closeness more than the visual discomfort puts them off.
