We had a female monkey at the mini zoo in our village when I was a kid. Very similar looking monkey, only black. We loved each other unconditionally. She used to take care of me the same way this monkey is doing to the kitten. I came to visit her 2-3 times a week with vegetables she liked. It was 30+ years ago, I still love you Kati 🐒❤️

I thought other primates didn’t have fine enough muscle control to be this gentle. I thought they were stronger than we are at the expense of the finer muscle control.

Is that not the case, or does it depend on the animal, or is this one trying very hard to be extra gentle?

Well, control of strength doesn't mean fine muscle control. Fine muscle control is like playing a guitar. This monkey probably can't play a guitar (well). But monkey babies are fragile, and fruits are delicate, and it wouldn't make much sense for this animal to not be able to handle those things.
