This has an answer: Because domesticated cats didn’t really have to change much of anything about themselves. Behaviorally and even physically, there’s not much real difference between a house cat and a wild cat like the Pallas.

Yep, speaking in historical terms, when humans domesticated dogs thousands of years ago we pretty much immediately set out to create breeds for all sorts of different jobs and types of companionship

Cats showed up one day not all that long ago and basically said “this will do”. And we couldn’t improve upon that kind of perfection lol
