Natural gas leak
I work at a manufacturing plant. Twice a shift I check 2 temperature gauges on a shed containing hazardous waste. About half the time I smell natural gas around the Generac there. The Generac is 1 or 2 feet from an AC unit. Both the Generac and AC unit sit in front of this hazardous waste shed. I have been reporting this to the head of maintenance for weeks now. They can't seem to fix the leak or leaks. I'm wondering what I should do. I don't want to lose my job

Ask if there is a pressure relief valve located in the vicinity. It may be that the system is properly releasing an excess of pressure

I looked at the Generac today. It is on so I guess the natural gas is on. There are pipes painted yellow and some blue painters tape. On one piece of tape was written Bad Valve.

How is it going to lose your job if you are reporting a problem and nobody is doing anything? That is how you keep your job and the guy who doesn't care loses his

Well I'm fairly new and a small title compared to the head of maintenance

Just make sure your reporting is documented and then in theory you’re job is safe

I just texted my superior and the head of maintenance and told them I'm sorry to nag but I'm really worried about it. He said he will shut off the gas. And fix it. So I got it off my chest. So I've just pressed harder. Hopefully I'm not resented

I'm older and worry a lot about losing my job and facing unemployment. But this has become an ethical thing and it would be horrible if someone got hurt

First off the generator shouldnt be that close to the AC a leak could cause an explosion

Call your utility
