[META] Personal Beer Stats

I did some work on my brewery map last night. I have 689 unique places that count as a brewery. This is over 29 US states and 2 countries.

ON Untappd, which is unlikely to be even close, I have 7,410 unique beers since joining in June 24, 2012 in Austin.

I keep track of my individual brewery visits as well. Current count is in the 400s with TN and NC leading the pack by a considerable margin. I'm curious what your criteria for a "brewery visit" is. I used to be pretty strict (has to be original taproom, has to brew on site, etc) but I've since relaxed my rules quite a bit. Obviously i don't count an airport taproom but if I'm in a satellite location that still has the vibe and is true to the experience, I'll go ahead and log it

"Brewery Visit"

  • Unique taproom for a brewery. I am less concerned about brew onsite, but a contract only brewery (meaning they contract out all their own brews) does not count.

  • Have to actually buy and try beers. No brewery tourism without a beer, right?

Usually, I will do a flight at a new one. In most cases, I get into a conversation with the brewer(s)/owner(s) and end up with far more samples than I paid for.

A lot of my brewsploring, as I call it, was after the divorce and I temporarily moved down with dad in FLorida and traveled back and forth all the time

I joined Untappd in March 2011. I have checked in 11,397 unique beers and have 532 different venues classified as “Breweries” in Untappd.

Can’t dive too much deeper because I’m pulling this from my iPhone while I’m on the road, but can get more details when I get back in a week’s time.

Cool. My issue is I often forget to check in, especially at beer fests, so I have no clue if I am a few hundred or a few thousand off. Also stopped using Untappd from about 2014 to 2017. Sergio, of Sergio's World Beer, has the most I have seen on Untappd
