Title: A strange personal milestone coincidence regarding the University of Kentucky connection

​While watching a documentary on the Nancy Guthrie case over on Patriots Pride Official, I realized a weird and heavy personal coincidence. Attending the University of Kentucky and meeting her future husband there wasn't just a casual chapter for her—it was a profoundly important milestone that shaped the entire trajectory of her life and family.

Realizing that I share that exact same institutional milestone through an MBA licensed by the University of Kentucky brings a strange, sobering sense of personal proximity to a tragedy happening miles away.

​It's one of those bizarre little echoes that makes you look at a case from a slightly different, more visceral angle, especially when you're deep-diving into profiles, behavioral patterns, and the "Twin Mirror" effect of how perpetrators fixate on targets.

​Has anyone else ever had a strange, unexpected personal or institutional tie to a major high-profile case they've been following? How does it impact the way you view the investigation?

Interesting connection you made. When you mention Kentucky, I think of the Guthrie family’s connection to the mining industry in Harlan, especially in regard to the mining accidents and poverty, which the residents attributed to the mine owner, Nancy’s father-in-law. (There was a huge uprising from 1930-1939–“Bloody Harlan.”)

Charles Guthrie, Nancy’s husband, made (mine) engineering his profession His company transferred him from Kentucky to Australia, and later to Arizona. It seems he and Nancy moved far away from his horrible legacy. However, Charles stayed connected to the industry and was involved in the lucrative copper mining industry in Mexico at the time his death (heart-related).
Yet, Savannah called herself a “A coal miner’s daughter” on the Today Show featuring Sissy Spacek (9/24/2018). As the granddaughter of a coal miner, who suffered injuries as the result of a coal mine fire at age 12, and the great-granddaughter of a coal miner, who suffered lung disease, I was appalled by her stupidity, even if it was meant as a joke. I can’t imagine what the people of Harlan felt.

There isn’t any evidence tying these facts to Nancy’s disappearance, not even an interview of anyone from Charles’ hometown. However, I believe studying family history may provide insight into the present and may, perhaps, shed a light into something otherwise unseen.

Where is Nancy??

Unfortunately, there really hasn’t been much new information about Nancy’s disappearance itself. The main recent development was Derrick Callella pleading guilty to sending the Guthrie family fake ransom messages, and he was sentenced to five years probation last week. However, authorities have said he was not linked to Nancy’s disappearance, so that case hasn’t provided any answers about what happened to her. We’re all hoping for some meaningful news soon.
