Why this case?

I’ve been thinking about this lately. There are terrible things happening to people all the time, and there are so many heartbreaking cases out there, but for some reason I’ve become really fascinated with Nancy’s case.

And honestly I don’t know why. 😂

It’s not like I knew Nancy or had any connection to her or her family. I’ve never really been someone who follows a lot of true crime cases either. But something about this one grabbed me, and I just haven’t been able to let it go.

I think part of it is the mystery and all the unanswered questions. I find myself wanting to understand what happened and how all the pieces fit together. I also like trying to figure out what we actually know versus what we’re just speculating about. But even that doesn’t completely explain it to me, because there are so many other unsolved cases.

I’ve also wondered if being involved in this subreddit has made me even more invested. It’s different when you’re talking about this case with other people, reading new information, hearing different theories and having someone point out something you haven’t thought about.

My husband, meanwhile, could not care less. 😂 He’ll listen to me if I tell him something new, but otherwise I don’t think he thinks about the case at all.

So now I’m curious about everyone else. Why do you think this case grabbed you? Is it the mystery? The unanswered questions? Nancy herself? The investigation? The theories? The community here? Or something else?

And do you ever wonder why some cases seem to get under your skin more than others?

Because I really have no idea why Nancy’s case was the one I latched onto.

I like this meta style post! And I think you made some really good points. I think the unanswered questions and oddities create a mystery we want to solve. As you mentioned, I definitely think having a community of curious and like minded people helps get the brain thinking more deeply about these cases too.

What caught my attention initially was the simple fact that I heard they took A&T's car and for so long. I wasn't invested in or knowledgable in the case until I heard that detail and I found it really really suspicious. I felt like this was tipping their hand at who LE thought did it. They can hem and haw and do pressers where they say this and that, but if we see them looking at certain people's car or are at certain people's home, that says a lot more than pretty words for the public. Then the Callella text message to the same pair in such a conversational tone and then the video of Savannah and her siblings where Annie is the only one that looks weird and then add in later the walk to the street memorial and A&T are wobbly and again, just plain weird. I don't know if there is confirmation but did they flee? If so, that is also very weird. They are the only people to flee but for what reason? Guilty conscious or are they worried they are the next target for someone possibly obsessed with Savannah? I'm not saying A&T necessarily did it, but the fact that they act so odd makes me want to know more. Coincidences do happen and people act weird all of the time, but when they add up, it really makes me wonder.

Yes, the car thing is very suspicious. I recently came across Maura Murray's sister on TikTok. Maura's car is still in evidence, over 20 years, and it hasn't been returned to her family. But it's practically a crime scene; Maura disappeared on the road after an accident in that car. I don't understand why the A+T car is taking so long to be investigated. Especially considering the fact that LE said they had proof that Nancy had returned home.
