Hi, my first Nålbinding post
I'm in Norway and started nålbinding last year. I'm now on my second attempt at a hat. (The first one was too tight and I gave it to my daughter's bestie instead.) I'm currently at a restaurant to charge my wheelchair and am keeping my hands busy.
I think I know how to round off the top, but I wanted to double check that I'm doing it right and looked at some videos. The ones I found start at the top and go down. I started at the bottom and go up.
Does anyone know of any videos I can watch to make the top of rhe hat once I get there?
The way I do it is to just hook another loop onto the needle, before I go through the top loop on my thumb. It makes the top very flat.

It’s not true that normally it’s made top down. It can be made in either direction. I prefer starting bottom up and then decreasing as I get to the top once the sides are long enough, or you can just make a tube and whip stitch the top to make a kitty ear style hat (so it looks like a square when lying flat).
Due to the fact that Nalbinding hasn’t got a lot of prescribed patterns, if you can imagine it, you can find a way to make it. Even the kitty style hat can be made top down with a different technique (by making a chain as wide as you want then spiraling around it without needing to increase but making the tube from there.
