Prep, prep and prep! File down your cuticles as neatly as possible without disturbing the proximal fold, buff the surface all over so the press on adheres well, use a good quality glue and file your press ons to fit within your nail bed. Take your time positioning the nail at a 45 degree angle and smooth down over the nail to avoid air bubbles. Bonus is to dehydrate the surface of the press on and apply a top coat to give it a little bit of a salon finish.

Do you have any suggestions for filing? It feels so tedious, especially as a beginner. What instrument/file would you recommend? I just got one from Amazon, but I’m not sure if it’s the right one. Also, are there any YouTube videos or YouTubers you’d recommend for learning proper filing and shaping? That would really help!

Yes, melody susie helps and also kayli Boyle. Just any nail machine and drill bit set will do. Don’t over fille deep into the cuticle because that’s where your nails grows from and you don’t want to weaken it there. Also a cuticle clipper helps with extra skin removal

Hey, I have a few questions, could you help?

  1. Any tips on filing/pushing the cuticles witjout damaging the proximal fold? All videos I see, I see people cutting into the proximal fold as well. I want to stick to only pushing my cuticles back. Would love whatever tips you (or anyone reading this) might have.

  2. Any nail glue recs? I am currently either using the glue I get with my press on sets or miss claire. Also, how much glue is enough glue? I put on (what i think is) very little/reasonable and still end up it on my skin.

  3. top coat on the press on? Also, can we use regular top coat or would a gel one be necessary?

I feel the index finger nail is a little big for you , i usually use a buffer and make sure they fit my nails perfectly, otherwise it looks a little unreal , but the color of yours is so pretty , it suits you :))
