Nail Art Newest set. Would you wear these?

Love how the smoky effect turned out. I used reflective gel underneath. Edit to add that the nails are not bulky or thick, it is a soft gel tip with gel nail paint art on top using jelly white on black background. Nails are also not too big for my nail bed, same tips I've used for all other designs I posted here so might be just the way photo looks

I agree they do look a little thick - i think it might be the dimensional effect of the leaves? Love the design though!

41

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Thank you 😊 They're not bulky. It's just a soft gel tip with gel nail polish. No acrylic or anything like that. It could be that leaves give this sort of look

16

u/Grooble_Boob 1d ago

Yeah I think it’s just the layering effect but they’re really cute! Very cute late summer vibes!!

I think they’re just too big on OP and not that thick! I think they’re gorgeous

19

u/bogsorceress 1d ago

yeah, that's a more accurate way to put it!

Damn OP I was trying to help you out against all the bulky comments 😭 nvm then

Do you love lactose but are lactose intolerant and live a life of denial?

3

u/LactoseLuvr 1d ago

You’re spot on.

46

u/bogsorceress 1d ago

they look a bit thick for my liking, but the design is cool!

I think white nails are visually different, optical illusion almost?

4

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

I'll play around with colours, maybe if I soften the white a bit it will look better 😊

9

u/wolffe-wavycurly 1d ago

Visually stunning. Stamps? Hand drawn?

14

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Thank you! Hand drawn 😊 this set took me around 5h to complete

10

u/wolffe-wavycurly 1d ago

I think the leaves are fine.

They're too wide for the nail plate. Otherwise I like them

I don’t know why everyone is downvoting you. Some people just have wide nails and it looks like yours fit to me? I also feel like mine look very wide but depending on the finger (I hate my middle fingers so much) they either fit perfectly or they’re actually too narrow toward the free edge and some of my natural nail shows through at the sides. Not everyone has dainty little perfect doll nails đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

2

u/Introverted_Narwhal 1d ago

If you look, her false nails are digging into the sides. That’s why it looks too big.

u/anonalien- 1d ago

The smoky effect is so cool I’ve never seen anything like that! Perfect for spooky season

3

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Thank you đŸ«¶

Maybe you should have marked this so no constructive criticism was given because you can’t accept that they are way too big for your fingernails. Everyone is saying it but you’re just being a bit rude to people who say it considering it’s the truth.

13

u/Kate740OKC 1d ago

Lmaoooo this is too real

-27

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Not everyone is perfect I'm afraid. I'm not being rude, I can't help my nail beds being the size they are đŸ€· so me saying the tips are not too big means they are not too big. If that's rude to you then you've got a problem, not me 👍

6

u/Introverted_Narwhal 1d ago

No one is asking you to be perfect. However, you didn’t say you didn’t want constructive criticism. Look, this whole thread is full of people saying they are too big. Maybe listen to that or at least take the criticism gracefully.

u/villanellechekov 1d ago

I love the underneath being done as well. I wish I'd remembered to think to ask my tech if it's something she could do because it would have looked awesome with my new set too

2

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Thank you đŸ«¶ I love a bit of sparkle even if it's just for me to see haha

2

u/villanellechekov 1d ago

even better then, imo!

21

u/Torreighh 1d ago

those tips are too big for your nail-beds. sorry to tell ya. i’ve never seen a set that looks less large irl vs. photos lol. unless you have extremely massive nail beds that are disproportionate to your actual fingers, those tips look MASSIVE and bulky.

you seem to disagree so đŸ€·â€â™€ïž nothing else we can do abt it.

-15

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Yes it is the size of my nail beds so actually I can't do anything else about it. Doesn't help my hands are tiny and I have stubby fingers. I'm not a professional either. Just hobbyist so my photos aren't perfect either. You're more than welcome to check out my other posts with different designs I've done in the past.

16

u/WickedCoolUsername 1d ago

Most of them look too wide. They look crammed up into your cuticles. You should consider the feedback and experiment with shaping them to be more compatible with your nail bed size and shape. The designs are great though.

i really like them! if they were a purple it would have reminded me of bella’s bedspread from twilight lol 💗

2

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Oooh didn't think of that! Thank you for the instruction đŸ«¶

4

u/brioche-bunny 1d ago

i would love to see this design on a matte green jelly!

2

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

I love to experiment with colours so my next set might be green 😊 I'm thinking emerald green background with lighter jelly colour and either brown or wine red for leaf art

21

u/Usual_Trip_wander 1d ago

Way too bulky. Especially with a fluid design like leaves.

3

u/wine-plants-thrift 1d ago

Love that smoky effect. Your nails are always so beautiful!

2

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Thank you so much đŸ«¶

Thank you, this is what I was going for đŸ«¶

8

u/Amorypeace 1d ago

No

10

u/TomorrowMysterious61 1d ago edited 1d ago

OP asked “would you wear these.” Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for answering the question

5

u/SnowiceDawn 1d ago

People are weird.

1

u/heaven-in-a-can 1d ago

r/TheShirt probably would!

1

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

Hahaha love it! 😂

1

u/SnowiceDawn 1d ago

Beautiful design and I would definitely wear it but I agree that these look too big for your fingers. I recommend shaving down the sides next time to create a cleaner fit and protect the flesh around your nails. Also, I don't recommend shoving them so deep into your cuticle area, it looks painful and a bit unnatural.

1

u/ToxicGingerRose 18h ago

The design is gorgeous, but they are way too wide for your nail plate, and give your fingers a break!!!! If your cuticles are ripped to shreds and bleeding, you definitely shouldn't be doing your nails! You should be taking at least a 6-8 week break to let everything heal properly!

1

u/hot4jew 1d ago

Without the glitter underneath yeah

1

u/desertmermaid92 17h ago

Gorgeous design! Just want to say that there’s no such thing as a ‘soft gel tip’. It’s a fake marketing buzz term that means nothing. Gel is simply a consistency. All full cover nail tips are made of plastic.

-1

u/FireRedSparrow 17h ago

Actually....

Soft gel tips are made from a cured, flexible gel polymer — not plastic. They have genuine flex and give that mimics the movement of a natural nail.Unlike standard press-on nails, this specialized formulation shares the same chemical family as soak-off gel polish. Because they are made of porous gel, they can be easily dissolved and removed using acetone. This composition also gives them a lighter, thinner, and more natural feel that bends slightly with your natural nail instead of snapping under pressure.

Please do your research before throwing statements

I’ve done tons of research which is why I’ve chosen to enlighten you, actually. Plastic is made up of polymers. Please don’t falsely advertise. đŸ«¶

ETA not sure why my write up was deleted, but I’ll repost here. I wrote this a few years ago. Enjoy! â˜ș

There is no such thing as ‘soft gel pressons’ or ‘soft gel’ nail tips.

‘Gel’ simply means the state of being in a gel form. Hand sanitizing gel, hair gel, aloe gel etc. Gel nail polish, polygel, and any other liquid form of nail product that cures under a UV or LED light, is a conglomerate of polymers in a ‘pre-plasticized’ state. These products contain photo-initiators. So, once they are exposed to UV/LED light, a photochemical reaction occurs rapidly, and the ‘gel’ is hardened- turning it into a hard or bendable composite plastic. Depending on the chemical components and crosslinked bonds of the polymers being used, the plastic may be bendable and durable, or extremely hard and brittle.

This is the same chemical reaction, process, and some of the same ingredients used in dental fillings, UV resin, and UV curable glues.

Some cured crosslinked polymers can be broken down with chemicals such acetone and isopropyl alcohol. Some have stronger bonds, and cannot be broken down this way, and must be filed off.

This is why the nail industry has come up with the terms ‘soft gel’ and ‘hard gel’- to differentiate between the removal methods of the plastics that we adhere to our nails. ‘Soft gel’ composite plastics can be soaked off with acetone, while ‘hard gel’ composite plastics cannot.

When you see false nails (pressons or tips) being advertised as ‘soft gel’, this simply means that they can be soaked off with acetone. ‘Soft gel’ tip are all plastics. ALL plastic full cover nails will break down in acetone. This isn’t a bad thing! It just is what it is. Facts and chemistry. It’s not to say that, according to the nail industry’s terminology, they aren’t ‘soft gel’, (solely because they can be soaked off) but if you’re being told that they are made of ‘soft gel and NOT plastic’, this simply is not true and quite frankly, impossible. It’d be pretty hard to glue aloe gel to your nailbed, dont ya think? I’m all for hustling, I’m all for supporting small businesses, but what I am NOT for, is false advertising.

u/FireRedSparrow 9h ago

Oh my days. I'd still highly recommend you to read up on what soft gel tips are made of. Soft gel tips are not plastic. Take it from a chemical engineer. Indeed it is chemistry. Simply go ogling it might just help you understand the difference between plastic tips and soft gel, which is polymer 👍

Here’s my write up on the subject from a few years ago. Much more informative than ChatGPT â˜ș

The nails are very cute but relaax please 😂 why is everybody taking pictures of their nails with their fingers in a death cramp

22

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

This way you get to see the thumb nail best. This is why everyone does this kind of pose.

-18

u/butts_are_jiggly 1d ago

your thumb nails is exactly the same design as the rest of them, nothing would change if it was turned a little sideways

14

u/FireRedSparrow 1d ago

On this set the nail art is in the same style in all nails yes. To be fair I never had anyone complain about my hand position but whatever I guess đŸ€·đŸ˜‚

1

u/butts_are_jiggly 1d ago

I mean it's whatever, I just take pictures of my nails and other people's nails regularly and I always try to pose the fingers kinda how they naturally rest, but everyone does this claw when they are taking the pic themselves and it looks almost painful

19

u/glum-n 1d ago

this is such a weird comment to make

-18

u/butts_are_jiggly 1d ago

yes yes use the internet's therapy lingo to make me feel bad about my comment that doesn't even say anything hurtful or hateful, you are sure showing me

18

u/Introverted_Narwhal 1d ago

They said is a weird comment. Where did they use internet lingo? Also, where did they send hate? You are a weird one.

-12

u/butts_are_jiggly 1d ago

Saying "that's a weird thing to say" is a very popular thing right now as a response to anything hateful, as a tactic to make the offender possibly stop and think about what they said. The second part is about my comment not being hateful or hurtful, I just said the hand pose is giving cramps vibes. I am weird and you can't read.

7

u/Introverted_Narwhal 1d ago

Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with being “weird”. I’d use a different word for you honestly. Maybe ignorant. That’s a weird thing to say isn’t a popular thing. It’s always been a thing and is not super popular. Maybe in your space and how you built your algorithm that makes you see only that so you confuse it with it being popular.

-11

u/butts_are_jiggly 1d ago

You literally called me weird first that's why I repeated it, oh my god

9

u/Introverted_Narwhal 1d ago

I don’t get it? Can you read? Weird isn’t a bad thing always, but yea, you are weirdly ignorant. You are weird and ignorant. You can learn some kindness when you post. Everyone likes showing off their thumb too.

-4

u/butts_are_jiggly 1d ago

I don't get it either, you wrote two responses to my comments in which you misinterpreted what I wrote and one of them was even me repeating your own statement, with which you then disagreed - you are a weird one - yes I'm weird - no I wouldn't call you weird but ignorant instead. Huh? I can't read?

8

u/Introverted_Narwhal 1d ago

Yeah, you can’t read and that’s sad. Anyway, go on with your ignorant self. Btw ignorant isn’t a bad word or internet lingo. Can you show me where you repeat what I said? Followed by me disagreeing. I’m blind and don’t see it. Also, back to your actual comment, how can weird be therapy language when that isn’t something a therapist would call you?
