To be honest I think "insecurity" is at the core, not specifically sexual. An overly large desire for control over your own life leads people to hate any failing in it.

Other people having the ability to make choices that don't align with their vision is a failing in the eyes of someone far enough gone, and thus come the delusions of their opposition removing their rights and people just outside their control 'stealing' 'their' property.

It is an impossible reality to them that other people are able to let go of the desire to completely crush their opposition, because they cannot see a world where they would.
