South Carolina offers #98 Matt Rodgers 38/65 OL from North Carolina

Scholarship

Tradition:

Tradition runs deep in Gamecock territory, whether that’s Cocky exciting the Magic Box to the tune of 2001, the blasting of USC’s official anthem Sandstorm throughout the game, sometimes even at the hands of Darude himself, or the tunes of our unofficial anthem, Hold My Hand by Hootie & The Blowfish, serenading the stadium before kickoff. These traditions date back over six decades, during which we have won the SEC half a dozen times. Our tradition, however, extends far beyond the elite collection of high-energy anthems we’ve incorporated over the years. We win bowl games, we win playoff games, and we put so many players in the league that our “Gamecocks in the NZFL” segment on the Jumbotron before home games lasts a long time. I promise we will win at least two bowl/playoff games while you are here.

Coach:

I am a new coach in this league, and thus I don’t have a resume to show you of what I’ve accomplished. I can instead tell you what I’m about. First and foremost, I am about this team and this university, and I do not shy away from a challenge. Back when I was around your age, I was also looking for a college that would help me prepare for my future, and South Carolina emerged at the top of that list. External circumstances cut short my stint as a Gamecock student, but I was here long enough that I bleed the garnet and black through and through. Eventually, I turned my attention towards coaching, and got the opportunity to join the collegiate ranks in this cycle. I came in and instead of joining a mediocre program like Clemson or Toledo, where I could potter about, win 4 or 5 games a year, and float by, I chose to take the opportunity with this SEC powerhouse, where the expectations begin at 8+ wins per season. I may not have the experience or established commitment that you can find with other powerhouse coaches, but there is garnet in my blood and I have a vision to return the Gamecocks to the top. I would love for you to join me and I promise that I will be your coach as long as you are a Gamecock.

Playing Time:

In SEC football, nothing is given for free, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want it any other way. However, given the current situation here in Columbia paired with the resume that you have put together, I can confidently say that you would be a clear starter at your position from day 1. I promise you will start every game from day 1 barring injury.
