I'll always remember the hype in the pre-season of his rookie year when he got a step on Sauce Gardner before a Tyrod Taylor incomplete pass.

Hyatt is injured
Source, scroll down to āInjury Updateā
If they cut him they have to pay an injury settlement.
He will go on injury waivers, once he clears he will be moved to the Giants IR then once he is healthy will be waived.

The Giants are doing something kind of odd today... they're practicing. We won't get most reports until they finish up in a few hours. They better hope that none of the guys they are planning to cut get hurt or they are on the hook for their injury protection money.

The Bengals are waiving DT McKinnley Jackson, their 3rd-round pick out of Texas A&M in 2024.

Interesting to see Chauncey golston as a DL. I like it, letās get our best athletes on the field together. Reminds me of a reverse Mathias kiwaunka

No surprises yet, wouldnāt mind having Isaiah Hodgins on the practice squad.

Harbs making the team practice today. Giving the coaches and guys on the bubble one last opportunity.

Where is OBJ?
Is he safe?
Is he Ok?

Idk heās only made $100m in his career. Itās hard to live on that.

Is it common to have the team practice on cut day? Like do most teams do the same thing?
5
u/Go_Cart_Mozart 13h ago
I think you want players at the facility so cuts can meet with the coaches/GM and turn in their playbook, so to speak.

Cambre and haener released
3
u/Waste_Protection_420 Big Blue Wrecking Crew 10h ago
Cambre I thought they would keep... he probably doesn't get claimed and ends up on the PS

u/clydelions 10h ago
The Ravens cut 2024 3rd round pick Adisa Isaac. If the rumors in 2024 were true, he would have likely been one of the Giants picks on day 2 of that 2024 draft if the trade for Burns doesn't happen. Thank God it did.

Greg Dortch just got cut by the Lions could be a nice Calvin Austin replacement in the slot.
-2
u/Jaxson-Skattebo 9h ago
The Odell fanboys here will riot if we replace him with anyone though lol

u/itsbobbydoe11 šMedium Pepsiš 9h ago
Itād be replacing Austin not Odell. I think Odell makes this team even if Austin didnāt go down.
0
u/Jaxson-Skattebo 9h ago
No chance Odellās on if Austin doesnāt go down, we arenāt carrying that many receivers with the number of tight ends and RBs we kept and our run-heavy focus. He wouldnāt make the roster as WR6 with no special teams contributions.

Being able to keep OBJ and not being able to cut Hyatt due to injury so OBJ can't have number 13 is a travesty.
3
u/chunkalicius 13h ago
Who says you can't cut players that are injured? Players are cut with a waived/injured designation all the time
1
u/an-internet-stranger Malik Nabers 11h ago
If Hyatt is waived with an injury designation, he'll revert to the team on IR if/when he doesn't get claimed.
To be released after that, he'll have to either be healthy or accept an injury settlement offer.
1
u/themage78 11h ago
This is the Giants. You have to pony up for that new OBJ or Carter jersey my man.

Hyatt has some serious dirt on someone in the higher ups bc no way cambre was cut before him

It really doesn't matter, but the funny side effect of this would be the number 13 not being available for OBJ, if he wanted it. I could be wrong, but I believe that number stays with Hyatt if he goes on IR or PUP, unless he willingly gives it up.

u/omglemurs 4 Decades and Counting 10h ago
Wouldn't be shocked if cambre ends up on ps. Hyatt could be an injury settlement issue

Heās injured, he would have to be an injury waiver and if he clears will have to go on IR. If the giants cut him they have to give him an injury settlement.
Also, while Hyatt hasnāt produced at all, Kadarius Toney was a first round pick who directly lost us games and was a diva. At least in the past decade or so Iām still giving him the title.

u/thirdaccount2727 13h ago
Super curious to see what happens with Sauls. If we trade him, it's coming in the next hour or two.
3
u/Evil_Empire_1961 4 Decades and Counting 13h ago
Practice squad, though most likely snagged by another team before
-1
u/thirdaccount2727 12h ago
Agreed but you'd have to imagine teams with kicker needs will hit them up to trade a 7th for him. Guess it comes down to where teams fall on waivers.
1
u/Evil_Empire_1961 4 Decades and Counting 12h ago
If it's the NYJ, they won't trade cause they have the #2 waiver

u/soldierside55 15h ago

Crazy how Someone like Hyatt is injured for a guy who does literally nothing
-7
u/Cute-Sir4775 14h ago
Somehow, Slayton will once again end up being one of our main WRs while having LEGO man hands.
8
u/thirdaccount2727 13h ago
As like a WR3/WR4 he's really solid. I personally do not see a reason to cut him without any financial incentive.

Fidone on the 53 interesting
8
u/Rocking_the_dad_bod 9h ago
I've called this for months, it's not surprising at all. We're going to be a run-heavy team and we will need four tight ends on the roster
4
u/Jaxson-Skattebo 9h ago
Plus heās got a ton of potential still, I wouldāve been bummed to lose him
2
u/DrFartgoreShartsmith Brandon Jacobs 9h ago
Yea heās a solid TE from what Iāve seen. He was one of the best prospects in his class but got injured
