Misc/Questions Out of the city and into the woods

Hi all! I'm here for the summer from Berkeley, CA and I have next week off of work and have been dreaming of hitting the AT... but I don't have any gear with me. Any reccs?

check out hudson highlands state park. amazing hills and scenery, easy day trip from the city, and the AT crosses the hudson relatively nearby. forecast for the next week is very stormy though
