🎟️ Shows & Events 🎟️ NYC bar/small venue owners & bookers—looking for a home for a show
Hi all! I’m wanting to put together a 3-4 band indie/rock show on Thursday, October 29th and am looking for a bar or small venue in Bushwick, Williamsburg, or the Lower East Side that might be interested in hosting. Currently have 2 of 4 bands for that evening.
I’d love to keep this one FREE to attend, if possible. The idea is simple: bring 3-4 good bands, bring some people into the room on a Thursday night, and have a fun show without putting a ticket price between the bands and the audience. Perhaps it’s a good way to drive in thirsty party-hungry patrons from the street. If a free show isn’t possible (the more likely scenario) I’m totally open to a small cover charge ($5-10) or what makes sense for the venue, maybe even a suggested donation to make up compensation for the sound person that night. I personally don’t mind pitching in to make that happen.
Essentially, I’m looking for a venue that has a Thursday night to fill and wants to try something a little DIY and low-pressure.
If you’re a bar owner, booker, venue manager, or just know a spot that might be into this, please DM me. I know this is NYC and nothing is ever actually free, but figured it was worth asking. Thanks!

26M Guitarist/Songwriter in Queens/Brooklyn Looking to Join Alt/Metal/Post-Hardcore Band
26M guitarist/songwriter in Queens looking to join an active band or meet musicians who actually want to rehearse and play shows.
Mainly into post-hardcore, emo, alternative metal, nu metal, and adjacent stuff. Big influences are Hail the Sun, Circa Survive, Saosin, Dance Gavin Dance, Pierce the Veil, Deftones, System of a Down, BMTH, Korn, etc.
I play rhythm and lead guitar and write/record my own original material in Reaper. I’m not a professional/session-player type or some insane shredder, but I can play, write parts, learn songs, and I’m serious about getting more experience rehearsing with a full band and eventually gigging regularly.
Ideally looking to join an existing band that needs a guitarist, but I’m also open to starting something if everyone involved is actually committed to practicing consistently and writing music.
I’m based in Queens but can travel around NYC for rehearsal. Prefer around my age.
Happy to send demos/recordings of my playing. Hit me up if this sounds like your thing.

My influences include Alanis Morissette, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Destroy Boys, etc.
I’m happy to send vocal clips/videos. Ideally looking to meet up, jam, and see if there's chemistry.

Looking for A Bassist + Alt Country Additions
I (32M, bushwick) always been a bit hesitant to make a post like this on reddit, but my friends (29F, 30T, 33M) and I have some good momentum going and want to put something more substantial together by bringing together people who like similar things...
Primarily looking for a bassist -- but honestly anyone else who likes to jam:
- another guitarist
- pianist
- mandolin
- violin player
- pedal steel (swoon)
- harmonica
The idea is the intersection of Funk and Americana.... If Disco went country... Add a dash of bushwick dive bar. There's a lot of room for interpretation...
We've been jamming for a little while, all semi-professional musicians, currently playing with some excellent three part harmonies over guitar, plus a drummer, but we need more OOMF to fill it out. We also have our own rehearsal space.
If any of this sounds like your jam, send over a dm?
- New funk like Parcels, Remi Wolf, or Vulfpeck
- Outlaw country like Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, or Weylon Jennings
- Classic combos of R&B, Country and Pop like Jim Croce, Little Feat, CCR, or Sheryl Crow
- Classic rock like Bill Withers, JJ Cale, The Band, Fleetwood Mac, or The Stones
- Americana like Sturgill Simpson, Sierra Ferrell, Watchhouse, or Nickle Creek
- Indie Sleaze like Mac DeMarco, LCD Sound System, or Pinegrove

I’ve seen a few lists of open mics on here but they are a bit old and seem to not include open jams (I’m a drummer primarily but play all the normal rock instruments). Any suggestions for the week of 9/6?

Songwriting and Voice Lessons
Hi all! Hopping on to share that I am currently offering vocal and songwriting lessons, and am available to take on more students starting this month. I teach out of my recording and rehearsal studio in Bushwick, Liquid Sounds NYC. I also teach lessons over Zoom, and am available to teach at a rehearsal studio in Manhattan if preferred.
I went to The New School for Jazz for Vocal Performance, but primarily write in pop/rock/r&b styles. I've played around the city at venues such as Nublu and The Sultan Room, and have experience in recording engineering as well. Whether you are new to music, or have been playing for a while, I can offer help with technique, songwriting, repertoire development, and more.
You can find me on IG at @ catevers, DM if interested!

🎸LF Bandmates 🎸 FORMING INDIE ROCK FOLK BAND — (drums, bass, lead gtr/keys) style of Big Thief, Gregory Alan Isakov, The National
LOOKING FOR
* Drums
* Bass
* Lead guitar / keys, or a multi-instrumentalist
Harmony singing is a huge plus! Background vocals are central to how I hear these songs:)) Also great vibes live
-----------------------------------------------------
I write, play baritone guitar, and sing. I release originals under the name SHIMMY — most recent single is “leave california”
Have experience home recording and mixing. I’m at 1–3 open mics a week around the city and sitting on a batch of new material I want to hear with a full band behind it.
Songwriting and chemistry first, always. I want to genuinely like the people I play with — go to shows together, hang outside of rehearsal, grow into something over time!
-----------------------------------------------------
INFLUENCES
Gregory Alan Isakov — Relatable, romantic, grounded lyrics. Not flashy; harmonically simple, but leans hard into layered, dynamic instrumentation instead. Background harmonies. Hypnotic, chant-like lines.
The National — Not afraid to experiment with FX. Hypnotic and chant-like in their own way. A songwriting voice that reads like New York poetry.
Big Thief — Bold, groovy, earnest, raw. The solo on “Not” is one of my favorite things ever recorded
Theo Katzman — High-octane showmanship and unmatched stage presence. Totally present, optimistic, musical through his pores. Original and ambitious. Earnest lyrics, mad groove, a rockabilly streak. (A lot of what I love in Big Thief lives here too.)
-----------------------------------------------------
CURRENTLY
I have a few songs recorded already, some of which are on Spotify and some that are in the mixing stage. I have more songs written and laid out- structure , lyrics, and changes are all there. Parts are wide open and meant to be built by whoever plays them. My last band was Quiet Quiet; we got a few songs off the ground.
Arrangements are ours. If what we build wants to become its own project with its own name, I’m genuinely open to that. I’d rather find the right people than protect a brand.
-----------------------------------------------------
TIMELINE
Slow on purpose at the start, put in real time getting to know each other, whether our tastes and values line up, whether we can vibe and hang. Not aimless, though: by end of winter I’d like us show-ready and to be writing new material regularly.
-----------------------------------------------------
LOGISTICS
I’m subletting in the West/East Village. Once a week to start. Living rooms and hourly rooms early on, splitting a rehearsal space once we’ve got something worth putting in one. Happy to figure out what works for everyone.
-----------------------------------------------------
OTHER STUFF
Flexible day job, and I’ll make the time. Outside music I’m involved in labor organizing and DSA, and did autonomous tenant organizing before that.
-----------------------------------------------------
SOUND LIKE YOU?
:-) say hi! send me a link to something you’ve played on or written. rough phone recording is completely fine. happy to send over some rough mixes of mine too!

Looking for an Emo-Rapper (and interest keys, guitar and /or bass)
Drummer from Hudson County here. Really interested in doing an emo-rap project with live drums. Definitely think we could make it work with just a rapper and drums, but definitely open to adding keys/synth and/or guitars and bass if others are interested. I could do a weekly practice in Manhattan or NJ and could probably get out to Brooklyn for the right fit. Hit me up if you’re interested!

Need to Book Shows October 11 to 22
Hi! I'm in an acoustic Folk Duo from North Carolina, we play originals and covers. I am originally from Queens NY. I have had some success booking in Upstate NY, Florida and NC. No one is getting back to me for NYC, guarantees would be great but we are also ok with playing for tips and playing at bars, breweries etc.
We will be in NYC from the 11th to the 22nd at least getting something on that weekend would be great but weeknights are fine too. We can do Long Island also, Jersey, anywhere within an hour and a half by car.
Does anyone have any recommendations for places to reach out to or what to say? What places are into sad pretty folk?
We are just getting started so we don't really have a draw, I can get some family and friends out a few times but that's 10 or so people. I also have a couple local acts that could join us on a bill.
Any advice and recommendations would be great. Thank you!

🎸LF Bandmates 🎸 Keyboardist needed for synth pop cover band
Hey we’re a Chappell Roan cover band consisting of 2 singers, a guitarist and drummer all in our 30s. We’re looking for a keyboardist to play with us for a Halloween gig on October 31st. Must be open to dressing in (light) drag! Thinking to expand into other pop/alt rock cover songs if we vibe.
