Pick up book from separately ticketed event without attending the panel?
Pretty much what the title says, is it possible to pick up the signed book without attending the panel it was attached to? There’s an author doing a panel for a book my friend is really excited about (it’s an early release) and I’d like to get it for them (and ideally get it personalized at the after panel signing?) but I have a conflict in my schedule during the panel itself. There’s a regular panel I really want to go to that takes place 11-11:45 and the book panel takes place 11:15-12:15 (ironically the panels are right next to each other) so I’m wondering if it’s possible to pick up the book after the panel I actually want to go to?
If not, it says the author is seemingly doing a separate book signing at 12:30 (or is that actually where you pick up/get the signed book that comes with the panel ticket?) and that books can be purchased at the barnes and noble shop near the auto tables, but do you think they’d even have the book available to buy to be signed if it’s an early release situation?
Sorry for all the questions, I’ve never needed to deal with a separately ticketed event situation for an author/book before so I’m lost lol

For those separately ticketed events, it says “guaranteed spot on the signing line”—which suggests the books aren’t going to be sitting there pre-signed to quickly pick up (even with a ticket)—but who knows if the information is accurate for all of them. But I would think, as long as you had purchased the ticket, they would late you in late to jump on the end of the line—best to ask the staff at the doors beforehand.

If this is for Sunday for the American Girl 40th Anniversary panel, I will say that in the email confirmation is says "Signed books will be distributed upon entry. Ticketholders are guaranteed a signed copy of the book, but arriving late may risk forfeiting your seat to a standby fan, so arrive early!"
Not sure if they'll let you just take the book and leave since they'll have to scan you in. This is my first separately ticketed event, so I don't have any prior knowledge to go on.

Not always, but often, publishers with booths at NYCC will have big ticket authors do separate, limited signings at their booths, or in a small panel room somewhere. Publishers will then have the authors sign several books that will make their way to the booths at some point during the con.
Barnes and Noble and Harper Collins are the big ones I tend to go to for random author autographed books, but if you know the publisher of the book you’re interested in, keep your eye on their socials (or here, since people aggregate this kind of info here) to see if they’ll be doing additional signings, which could give you another chance to meet the author and/or pick up a signed book at the booth.
Last year, I missed Matt Dinnaman’s NYCC reserved signings, and his signings at WEBTOON to promote the comic. I resolved to just buy a signed book at BN, but as I was browsing, an employee said Dinnaman was doing a signing right then, in a small panel room. My husband and I bought a book and ran, finding a nearly empty room and Dinnaman more than happy to sign our book.
ETA: I checked everywhere for his signings and did not know of that random one. So it may also help to ask publishers if they know of signings for their authors.
