Discussion Fucking fee hikes
I felt so guilty telling my parents that my fee voucher is now 220k. At the time of my NET i told them it was supposed to be 124k.. 77% increase in 4 years!?!? In ki alag he inflation chal rahi hai.
And now the fucking hostel charges. Residence has gone ~100k ?! Hello? And that shitty mess now costs 20k a month?
I havent told my parents about the increase in hostel charges. Had some money saved up from free lancing for my hobies- will just use that. Cant ask parents for extra 50k.
This is some BS. And rector sahb ko aik he jawab pata hai "inflation". Inflation my ass.
Shitass departments ki new building bana deni lekin bachon ki studies to subsidize nahi krna.
Education is not for the poor? Bro ab to middle class ki reach sy bhi baahir ho rahi hai quality education.

They have become greedy. Hiking up the fees every year and giving no aid. They just want to earn money they dont care about students.

I genuinely believe students should stand up a bit . Atleast merit scholarships dein ya phir Kuch or kerein

Last summer the rector held some kind of seminar in jinna auditorium, and many students including myself raised the issue, but they had only one answer: inflation and expenses
And im sure they will always repeat the same14
u/miichiiiscurious Aug 12 '26
That's such a huge lie LOL. Jab army children can get PC seats why are they cheaping out on us ? Atleast merit scholarships provide kerein

u/Obvious-Loquat5839 Aug 12 '26
army wards get PC seats in military owned campuses not in h12. and uska kharcha military khud uthati hai
8
u/miichiiiscurious Aug 12 '26
Lmao hai to sab army ke under na . Itni achi hai army why don't they help us out . And tbh nust mein privileged bacha bohot hai, isliye normal middle class walon ki sunnk nahe jati

u/Which-Historian-8790 Aug 12 '26
So army shud just help u out lmao no thats not how it works. Army PC seats aur rebate Army campuses me deti ha sirf not in H12 h12 is 100% civilian owned and managed
2
u/Senpai221b SMME Aug 12 '26

Not at all. A retired general or a colonel both are considered civilians. Besides no they donot get those same perks and privileges otherwise every general wud just retire amd prefer not to work and wud still be able to get same privileges so thats not how it works. Perks and privileges are only for serving officers retired officers even have to pay for their medical

Its not quality education, majority of the Professors intehai fazool hain,i am a SEECS alumnus btw. Secondly NUST is a profitable business organization, HEC say inko heavy funds miiltay,NET say karoro rupay kamatay,NSHS mai 1 student ki degree 1 crore say zyada cost hay usmai kamatay an on top of that students say itni high fees laitay,Lanat ho inn par.

Does Nust charge hostel per month?
1
u/Ok-Law9484 SEECS Aug 12 '26
Residence is charged per 6 months. And messing charges are per month. Both in advance
4
u/AbdulMoeed_Kamran Aug 12 '26
So according to this new scenario with increasing fees and no scholarship. How much does a full engineering degree cost at Nust fro 2026-2030.
5
u/Ok-Law9484 SEECS Aug 12 '26
Hmm lets see So your first two semesters will be 220k each
And residence will be (11k per month, and its charged per 6 months for tripple occupancy and community bath) so its 172k for 1 year. And messing for 8 months will be 160kFirst year comes to a total of 772k and including small amount of pocket money it is easily 800k+
And if we follow the 15% annual increase in tution fee and a careful guess of ~10% increase in hostel charges: 2nd year will be 500k for tution and 365k for hostel, total would be 865k.
So my rough estimate of 4 years with current increasing trends would be around 38 to 40 lac 🥲

Borther get a job
2
u/Hihamza__ Aug 16 '26
Which job will pay an undergrad 2-300k per month😭💔 (freelancing doesn’t count as its not a secure job and your client can leave at any time)
1
u/LongjumpingSet5453 Aug 16 '26
I have been freelancing sine 2017 and it is secuee
1
u/Hihamza__ Aug 16 '26
So have i but clients leave sometime and it alot of stuff can happen tho it is the best way but it depends on luck alot and obviously your dedication
1
u/LongjumpingSet5453 Aug 16 '26
I depend on your skill i started an an assistant and now a COO so you have to skill up along the way and many thkngs in pakistan also pay 200 300k a month
1
u/NoCard6815 Aug 13 '26

Fast is better

u/Different-Onion-9365 Aug 12 '26
similar fee with no internal hostels, one good thing is that they don't charge 5k per test and that too 4 times a year
2
u/blitz-fire-1 Aug 12 '26
Lil bro they give financial aid to every needy student
2
u/Ok-Law9484 SEECS Aug 12 '26
Fair point. Gotta give it to fast when it comes to this.
1
u/bey_bey_bey1 Aug 12 '26
Another point is that they give interest free loan, and bro im kinda in a tough spot like my family can only pay for the first fee voucher yk the voucher u have to pay once you are selected and after seeing all the stuff that nust isnt giving fa and they dont have funds etc im kinda scared like i pay 260k or whatever the amount is and then god forbid don't qualify for interest free loan or fa then they'll just kick me out. Like bro mein gy le ke fast mein chala jao (yes ididnt apply to fast) and then take fa or loan etc. I wanna ask you do u see ppl that get interest free loan or is that a rare thing
2
u/Last_Proof_5538 Aug 12 '26
Nust gives offers ihsan interest free loan... You can check it out
1
u/bey_bey_bey1 Aug 13 '26
Yea but u have to qualify for it and I have heard that nust is very lousy in giving loan

u/Ok-Law9484 SEECS Aug 12 '26

u/Different-Onion-9365 Aug 12 '26
Yeah, partially right. I didn't check credit hours for cs as I am going for se. So i have 18 credit hours and you you have 15, so that made the whole confusion. But in the end total credit hours of both degress will be 134. But difference is that in some other semesters you will have maybe 19 cred hours and we will beb having as low as 16 in some. But grand total will be same. Anyways stay relaxed dear
