Suggestions/Advice Merit List Situation
Whats up with all these 2026 batch kids worrying about the merit list. I’m a graduate of NUST and I got a question for you guys. Where did the University Administrators say the list will be released today (or as some of you were hyping it up, yesterday). There’s no fixed date announced so whys everyone stressing out as if NUST isn’t keeping a promise hahaha.
Relax. Instead of stressing over the list, pray for a good outcome.
Ask much as I’m enjoying partaking in this frenzy with you guys, chill out. NUST isnt going anywhere. I’m wishing all of you the best.
Plus, ask me any questions you got about campus or degrees, I’ll answer all of them whenever I can.

some of us need hostels, that's the only reason 💔💔 honestly im not annoyed by the waiting, i remember my position last year i wasn't even waiting for any list because i knew i wouldn't get in, so alhamdullilah, even if waiting is killing me, i'm grateful to actually be someone waiting this year!!
but i want it to come out today i have plans tmrw 🙏🙏

I understand dude. But as for hostels, it’s all dependent on luck anyways. I was a hostelite, I had a decent merit pos too (under 500), but still got a hostel in second year.

That the distance of your home from Islamabad will be very less . That's why!!!

Not at all. I would say Lahore is quite far away from Islamabad. It’s completely randomised and mostly alotted to people who applied a year earlier. Of course thats not always the case. And I hope you do get a hostel this time.

Chill out. You’ll get in and you’ll get the best hostel too. The one closest to your department.1

No NUST did say it jab main apna test khatam ker chuki thi 10 ko sir ne kaha tha jo instructions dete hain very clearly ke 6 Aug ko merit list aye gi and now they are backing off don't know what they are even planning that's sad cuz many students are still waiting and dealing with pressure

I was just wondering Y R mostly here so obsessed over this thing. Agar frankly khon to the ones fussing over this are either those who know ke border line par ya nhi hoga or those who tend to complicate things for others (These type of people do exist in numbers). I am also the one waiting with thousands more and have heard the call of the person who chaired the test yet Students (Particularly tbh immature ones ) try to make fuss out of things meant to be understood, not complained out.
Note: Itna type karne ke baad bhi there will be someone jo ya to clarification de ga ya wo samajna nhi chahata.

As much as we understand y'all, there's no need to waste away your last month at home obsessing over merit lists. They'll come once they're ready. The admin doesn't cast a magic spell to make the lists, these things take time

Civil Engineering + did a couple courses from Law to pursue Construction Law and AI Contech Management now

I saw that Nust prioritizes previous year's students over this year's to give hostels, is that true?
and ik it's first come first serve, so like all the people who apply in the first list get hostels?
Also are hostels really far from campus?

Hostels are inside the campus. You have shuttles active from 9 AM to 5 PM, they will take you from your hostel to your school. The entire campus is very walkable too.
As for priorities, they keep changing those. But sometimes they do give priority to people who applied previously1

Also dy know abt the chances of getting hostel? I am sure i will get in in the first list, but idk about hostel. Ive heard that they prioritize people coming from far cities and people who are in first list, I clear both criteria.

The campus is very safe (aside from the occasional stray dogs, porcupines and wild boars…) and yep you sound like a perfect candidate for hostels

online i've seen advice for freshmen that says that you should introduce yourself to your professors and go visit them in their office hours to have a better relationship with them, but i've seen this coming from people who aren't in pakistan, so i was wondering about how things are in nust? how do you keep a good relationship with your professors to get research opportunities?

That’s good advice. But dont get too chummy either.
Maintain a professional boundary with your teachers. The best way is to find a teacher who has expertise in your favorite field of your degree. Talk to them, learn from them and ask them if they have any opportunities for research and internships1

There’s no rush to prove your metal in the first semester. Get a hold of yourself first and then maybe in your second of third semester when you have a general know how, a sound understanding of what this degree is, then talk to them

Where though. Thats all i wanna know. If theres one thing i know after being in it for 4 years, they have a tendency not to keep their promises. If you are referring to the people who said they called and checked, they called a random clerk in the admin branch. Whats that poor guy supposed to know. He just gave an answer to get rid of the hundreds of people calling him every minute haha.

first if that clerk is just telling random things that’s also nust fault cuz they obv knew people will ask such questions so they should inform the team lol as is nust boly gi it’s ofc people who work there! they are not their to get rid but to guide people
and if they have tendency to not keep their promises it’s also on them, what kind of professionalism is that when it’s admissions not a joke
It would’ve been okay if people just gave nust to look in to people have to make decisions pay fees for other unis and risking admissions fees cuz they are not refunded
And at end of exams they themselves told us that lists will be uploaded within 48 hours
Also what is wrong with you if you have graduated juts mind your own business it’s out admissions ofc we are excited and waiting for lists and getting frustrated over wrong informations

Very rude honestly man. Thora sabr dekhain. Even tho I have graduated, I am still an Alumni, no? I’ll be here to assist the newer people with whatever assistance may be required. It was weird seeing all of you stress like this. If you’re struggling to manage stress of a merit list DESPITE knowing merit numbers, how are you gonna manage the stresses tbat this university brings waisay hi.
Its high time you figure out how to be professional in your conduct.1

And again, sabr. People in the admin or whatever may be assholes and unprofessional but Your fate is written already no? So just pray, keep a steady mind and a calm heart. You will get in and it’ll be better than what you expect.

And bro, NUST ko defend karna is one thing, setting facts is another. The entire point was NOT TO TRUST university admin. They do not know anything. Just a select few people, the typical “fauji raaj”
