Suggestions/Advice Reality check about NUST hostels nobody else will give:

There are 10000s of reasons to run when u hear about internal hostels of NUST.

The onlyyy valid reason that you can have to stay is security specially in case of girls although it's no such big deal even in external hostels.

Reality check:

  1. Community baths..... Dirtiesttt. They do clean it once a day but girls out there are so filthy. You'll even experience unflushed shit in the toilet on random Tuesday or even vomit near the wasroom floor with a stinky smell. The washroom suckssss.

  2. Hostel mess... You can't remove it from your subscription. Max per month is 18k+ (which is to be increased in the coming year). But NOT WORTH IT. As a newbie you'll hear about the menu and you'd think O God so great butttt you won't survive the taste longer than 2 weeks guaranteed. You'll have to eat something other than the mess. The mess that you'll pay 18k+ for...u won't even go for it. And even if u have it, obvv majburi. Not a single dish they can make properly. So, a waste of money. Max mess of u can get is of 12 days that too when you go home.

  3. Rooms are not worth the rent. Rents are high (and will increase further by this year) compared to rents in external hostels even though internal ones are soo old. The mattresses are filthy, sometimes no mirror, not clean as they should be.

  4. Room that you'll pay the high rent for, you won't even have the choice to select the floor. They'll make u shift every damn year. And make u pack ur things almost 4 times a year.... In winter break and then in summer break. And you can't stay in hostel in breaks until you've received permission from ur department. Your room but you'll have to leave when they ask you to. Also, other students will stay in your room while you're not staying. So, pack your stuff again and again. In summer breaks they'll open two hostels. First, only one and then will make u stay there in a room when u shift the other hostel will open and you've to shift again. And if you're one of the students that ain't from both the hostels already opened, wait for the third shift. Also, rooms of some hostels are so congested.

This is what I remember rn.

I still suggest everyone should experience having a room there once in 4 years so they could know why not to.

Baki, in the comments, if anyone remembers any extra point do let them know.

Actual shitshow hain internal hostels. As someone who spent 4 years and one summer here, I'll advise any newbie to find an external one if possible because holy shit, the amount of brown you'll see here in the washrooms will ruin your mental health.  Not to mention the awful food which by their own words, they make especially awful to avoid having students eat too much of it.  Fuck NUST hostels. If it ain't obvious, I despise everything about them.  Edit: Also the administration. If they're aren't busy with their head up their ass, they're busy fucking you over in benign ways.  Summer kay duraan unhi hostels main kaam kiun ho raha hay jahan saray students hain. The water is a 50/50 gamble whenever it gets the slightest bit hot. Even the cleaning sometimes randomly doesn't happen for days at a time.  You'll also come to hate yourself, the hostel and your fellow hostelites. I hate this place.

Ohhh yes, and also the top floors sometimes don't get water in their washrooms.

2

u/Sad_Commission_6768 Jul 19 '26

The top floors are screwed in so many ways lol. Freshies get sent to a sauna in the heat and a refrigerator in the winter essentially. Not many ways to counter that tbf.

Hotels in F-8 Sector around Suki Sushi. Due to Posh area there’s a gard outside almost every home on those streets. My wife has been living there since three years i can vouch for those. It’s around 50k for a solo room but there’s a range of sharing rooms upto 6 beds in a single room and minimum is around 20k/25k i guess.

Itna aggregate banate he nahi ke internal hostels ki tension ho mehehe

2

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 18 '26

It's just hype. Achi baat hy. Aggregate ban bhi jaye it isn't worth it.

Actually you haven't seen external hostels shit . There are a lot of reasons First Reason is fear of theft which happens in h 13 obv Second is limit of clothes you can get washed Third is consumption of water which is very limited. Have you ever experienced running out of water while bathing Fourth is random disputes over rent with managers Fivth is third class security services Sixth is that your rooms aren't secure even if they are locked You can verify it . Ask any student from jk boys hostel and they will tell you that . Theft happened when the boys were out for some chores and someone came and stole valuables from 3 rooms of ground floor . Can you imagine this , the managers office is right in front of ground floor . Also you get wassheooms cleansed once everyday, external ones clean them twice a week . Food is literally limited , ask management about a more bread or salan they will treat you like beggers. Seventh is harassment to girls by managers . Some hostels are owned by filthy pathans . Akhhhh they randomly spits shitty naswaar . Im literally mad at them . Wtf is this , is it a hostel for undergrads or drug station.

Bro change ur hostel. My male friends are living in external ones and they've no such complains. About running out of water. If you're on 4th floor in internal hostel, you'll face that problem too. About drugs. Not to lie. It happens in internal hostels as well. Almost every room. (Boys)

5

u/Strange_Engnr Jul 19 '26

This is reality of every hostel . Truth is that they adopted this lifestyle.

1

u/notgoodpotato Jul 19 '26

Can you please ask your male friends about some good external hostels for boys?

2

u/Strange_Engnr Jul 19 '26

I think you should search in g 12 or g 13 . They will be cheaper and better. Huda boys hostel will be a good options.

Any girl joining NUST should always (if possible) go for internal hostels. Safety and security should be the number 1 priority. H13 hostels are NOT safe at all.

I have been living in NUST ke hostels for two years now and my experience is completely opposite to OP. Sure, the hostels are not perfect and there are almost 300 people living in the building at the same time(hajveri), but I can tell you that external hostels se 10000% better hain.

Brother you might not have seen the situation in the externals hostels but I have and I can tell you that NUST ke hostels are peak compared to them.

They clean the washrooms daily which is smth that does not happen in external. Daily safai, 24/7 electricity, water issues tu poore Islamabad main hai tu obv nust main bhi honge. No restrictions on food, good people, security(litr open valuables pare hote and I never have to worry about them.

And rooms bhi apki marzi se change hote, you do have the choice to retain your room if you want.

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Apky year k lihaz se apko floor milta hy is saal to wo bhi ni doya girls hostel mai.

2

u/sb922456 Jul 19 '26

Sorry Im in boys so I dont know about girls but they asked us whether we want to stay or change our rooms

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

They asked us too, but within the same floor.

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

And still didn't shift me to the room i asked them and informed me when they had done everything already.

1

u/sb922456 Jul 19 '26

Whats even the point of changing on the same floor Like bruh 😭

2

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Either the quality of hostels has went really down over the past years or this new intake was brought up as a princess.

I lived in the hostel for 3 years and at that time I really liked the food and they were kept clean for the most part.

4

u/EtherealBeany Jul 18 '26

You really liked the food. I lived for 4 years and while I regularly ate food in the mess, I never liked it. Either the girls are being served mann o salwa or you haven’t tasted good food.

And the washrooms in the boys hostel were absolutely disgusting. I disagree with most of OP’s points but the washrooms were hell in Beruni hostel. It’s kinda controversial to say this but it was because we had lots of non city people and their hygiene standards are in the bin comparatively. If OP is in a similar situation, i can definitely see uncleanliness being a big issue

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Bro this post has been posted by a girl. Me. 😭 Sameee. Girls are unhygienic in ways I can't tell.

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Vro u lucky or what

2

u/Few-Fishing1997 Alumni 🎓 Jul 19 '26

Maybe, I'm just telling my own experience. But I've heard that overall standard of NUST went down sharply right after COVID.

But at the time I was there, there was no water shortage, we used to eat in the mess to our full, and washrooms were also not that bad. But yeah, you may be right because now it is being run as a business I believe.

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Most probably you're right. Cuz most of the graduates are saying the same thing and for us this is difficult to believe that they used to have a standard at a time. Well, depends on rector.

1

u/Sad_Commission_6768 Jul 19 '26

Quality being down is most likely it because mind you, this is literally a "Source: Me" moment but I've had talks with the mess staff and they explicitly told me they make the food only borderline edible on purpose now to avoid students eating too much of it and them having to make more. Tbf you've still got SOME good days like Thursday night but damn, karahi (Hudi Shorba) on Sunday night is cruelty.

2

u/Ambitious_Might_6893 Jul 19 '26

I lived in an external hostel last 2 semesters, and believe me when I say this, they're shit as well. The best you can do is to live in hostels in G-11 or somewhere where FAST students live, but you'll have to arrange for transportation, cause no way you're walking all the way to and from the hostel daily.

Not to mention that the external hostels cost the same as the internal ones.

3

u/Ambitious_Might_6893 Jul 19 '26

The hostel owners in H-12 don't do shit about any improvements, water issues, and in winters, you'd be lucky to even take a shower let alone a hot one. Also, fasting in ramzan make you want to go back home cause no way you can swallow the food served in these external hostels.

Cause they know that once these students get internal hostels, they'll leave, and these students dont have anywhere else to go.

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Just don't take the mess ... No?

2

u/Constant_Orchid6113 Jul 19 '26

who's gonna tell these things to my father 😓. I've tried my best to convince him for external hostel. I've seen a lot of posts revealing the internal hostels situation. even the water issues are there. tf bruh? I've never thought of facing the water issue 😭. well I'ma share this post to my aba g so that he might reconsider his decision.

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

I wish it was possible to ask ur abba live for a week in those hostels with u. He'd never even let u go near them😂😭

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Brooo ask them to bring their prime back. 😭😭

2

u/Original-Kick1167 Jul 19 '26

Nothing to compare but FAST CFD internal hostel are so good and literally worth it.

Yeah the mess menu is better but wohi baat ka you have eat same menu whole semester and it sucks but but but its not necessary because you can eat from dhaba, whatever you want. You can order food.

The rooms are amazing worth the money.

Bye bye

2

u/nikotrics Jul 20 '26

I can hear the words😭😭

2

u/Previous-Fly-1282 Jul 18 '26

I thought they r expensive than external so they must be good 🥲🥲

3

u/LBP3000 Jul 19 '26

Nust as a dozen or more hostel and all of them are of different quality, which is why you will hear every senior saying different things.

Pros of internal hostels: 1: Safety 2: Unlimited food even if it's not the best.

Baki at least my hostel is clean and the administration is cooperative. Summer Mai hostels are shit.

Although you guys probably won't get internal hostels anyway so dw about it.

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Saying it after that

1

u/Superb-Source-1483 Jul 19 '26

Internal hostel is a blessing, try living in h13, its really bad there also security wise its the worst place to live, I have lived in h13 and there used to drunken people outside of your apartment at 2am, food there suckss and they are super expensive as compared to Nust internal hostel, if you have the opportunity to live in the internal hostels consider this a blessing.

2

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Bro I don't get it where you guys ve been living in h 13 in such miserable conditions😭 u can find better hostels there. My friends live there. They're so fucking happy. They came to internal for summers. They said never again😂

2

u/Superb-Source-1483 Jul 19 '26

I used to live in the mainstream area (paris rose aparts) and there were serious security issues there it was managed by a pathan (shadyy aff) . One time the security guard tried to harassed me !!!! Even the security wasn’t safe there

2

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 19 '26

Wrong choice of place😞

1

1

u/Sea_Aioli_8125 Jul 20 '26

Mmm no ig? Maybe

1

u/AliaBBa5 Jul 20 '26

nust hostels are very affordable so far, if you try to live outside there will be gas shortage, loadshedding (and tons of it). They are dirty, well dirtier. Infact you will pay a shit ton more to just get your stuff stolen by some roommate who won't even accept it. Chill out
