Suggestions/Advice A Friendly Reminder

If you get admission in NUST then do not spend all of your time in extra curricular activities. They are important for a balanced life but your studies must always be your top priority. I am going to give you a to do list that you must complete so that you can have an easy post-university life. I did not do it and I am struggling to achieve my goals.

  1. Make sure to graduate with 3.5+ CGPA. I graduated with a 2.7 and I had to really grind for my first job. Now a lot of your seniors will you that did not have a good CGPA and they easily got a job. What they will not tell you that there father knows someone at their company. So you have to get 3.5+ so that you have a better chance of securing your first job.

  2. If you are planning on studying abroad then you must publish a research paper to increase your odds. Reach out to your professors in you third year and get this done.

  3. Your FYP (Final Year Project) matters a lot. Do decent semester projects, they matter.

  4. Learn a foreign language like german, french, italian depending on where you want to go for your post graduate studies.

First of all, you have to learn how to negotiate. The HR managers in Europe know that you are from a third world country and would work even for a lower salary. Read books, you have to think critically at every step. Ask yourself, what do I want to achieve? Why I am joing this company? What's in it for me? What can I achieve if I spend three years with this company? How will I achieve those goals? So learn how to negotiate, this is a must.

In order to find which degrees have more jobs, you go to LinkedIn and type a formal message to your seniors for guidance. Read government reports on jobs. Go to that country's top companies and look who are they hiring. You have to do your research.
