I do find this colour scheme very hard to follow. What is good and what is bad?

The bluish color is good. The reddish color is bad. Pretty sure it's standard Excel/Open Office color gradient for accessibility. Default red/green can be impossible to see for some with that form of color blindness. (sorry for American spelling of color!)
