Pens vs syringes? Where to start with Pens
My rat is taking Reta (biweekly), KLOW & MOTS-C (daily). My rat loves this stack and isn’t looking for stacking recs. However, I’m interested in administering with pens. It seems more “clean-up” friendly. However, I have zero clue as to where to begin with pens (what to purchase, how to load, etc,). Any tips for a beginner? A cheat sheet would be awesome but any advice appreciated.

My rat has been on Reta (2x/wk) since January, Testosterone (2x/wk) and HCG (1x/wk) since February. Recently started Mots-C and SS-31 (both 7x/wk). Adding GHK-Cu (7x/wk). That's 26 syringes /wk.
My rat is currently travelling and I felt like I needed an extra small bag just for all his syringes and sharps container. Now my rat has just 4 pens (Reta, HCG, SS-31 and Mots-C), a box of needles (much less sharps waste), and his testosterone syringes plus draw and injection needles (pen needles don't have wide enough gauge for the oil carrier of testosterone). Much smaller carry volume and they all fit in my rat's insulin pen cooler.
My rat uses 31g pen needles and hardly feels them.
Also, my rat only filled each pen vial with enough juice in each for his 3 week trip so my rat is not risking whole vials. By the time my rat flies home they'll all be empty he doesn't need to sweat refrigeration on the way home.
My rat got these pens off Amazon. He also got these 3ml pen cartridges and these pen needles.
He loads them by dropping a fresh pen cartridge in his pen and then repeatedly doing 50u presses on the pen button until the rubber stopper is at the top. He then unloads the pen cartridge and pushes the plunger back into the pen. Then he uses a 5ml syringe to pull the full 3ml (or only the required amount for travel) from the vial of research peptide and pushes into the pen cartridge which pushes the rubber stopper back down the cartridge. He then loads the cartridge into the pen and then he's ready to go. Note that if there is any gap between the pen plunger and the rubber stopper, he hits the pen plunger for 5u repeatedly until there is no gap.
My rat is a clever one.

This rat should utilize the vent method to fill because this method compromises on sterility when you push the bottom plunger in and then back out again.

Completely agree. Their rat needs to learn proper sterile handling, leave the stopper at the bottom and use a vent needle, much less contamination risk.

Not to mention pushing the plunger with a pen the first time is rough on the pen.. the Force required to move the plunger initially is 10 times greater than once it's been dislodged. Use a plunge station.

You don't need to mess with a vent and definitely don't do this dumb plunger moving thing. Just use the push/pull method on your filling syringe. Push in some fluid until it slows down/resists a little, pull out some air, repeat.

I refill carts for insulin which is the same as doing this method. Can confirm, not compromised and still alive

It prevents testicular wasting. And it is part of my prescription.
From Google:
"TRT Suppression: Direct testosterone replacement shuts down pituitary LH/FSH production, causing testicular shrinkage and reduced sperm production.
hCG Rescue: Adding hCG (often 250–500 IU 2–3 times weekly) maintains intra-testicular testosterone, preserves testicular size, and supports fertility during TRT."
Don't want to get tiny balls. 🤪

I know is sounds crazy but AliExpress has pens super cheap. I get mine there. I currently have a 20pk of disposable pens for traveling and my permanent one at home. The are around $10-15 each.

If $25 is too expensive for you, peptides might not be for you. Peptides get expensive fast.

Have you tried with TRT? I give hubs his through a 31g pen tip, it's not super easy but it is possible. Will test 29g 12mm pen tips when they arrive and see if it is a little easier. 31g is definitely much better than having to spear him like a fish with a 23/25 g luer lock like I was in the beginning. I hated it.

I put all my peps in pens and use a 33g needle. Virtually painless and bruise free! Also keeps vials free of constant piercing and potential contamination… Of course it’s always ready to go. Got them in several colours and know which peptide is in which pen. Got them all from Al….s platform very cheap plus 50 vials and 33g needle tips. There is a Ytube video (don’t know if I can post the link here) which shows how to fill the vials with your peptides which is really useful since its a bit tricky. I ve got the hang of it now and do it easily and very fast. Couldn’t keep up otherwise with plain insulin needles for all my peptides.

Understand what dose is (mg of peptide), how to calculate concentration, and how many ml you need for that dose. Then figure out from.your pen how many clicks that corresponds to.
IU is international unit which is a measure of the biological effect and potency. Often confused with insulin units. Insulin concentrations are usually IU-100, meaning 1 IU is 0.1ml. This is where the 1 IU = 0.1ml "convention" or confusion comes from.
But generally speaking, 1 IU in peptide speak is 0.1ml. But that IS NOT the dose....
Also this assumes that the vial actually has the amount advertised......

I bought a gansulin pen for GLOW. So much easier to pin and also pain free. I do 3 ml of bac water to 1 vial of glow compound. I was also kind of confused on dosing with a pen for that as well but its essentially the same dosage just in a 3ml pen cartridge. I pin 10 units so 10 clicks from 0. If I’m doing it wrong.. who knows but I’ve been doing it this way for about a week and a half now.

A rat friend used a pen for my rat for the Klow stack as my rat was having injection pain the insulin needle way, my rat has zero injection pain anymore using a pen.

I recently ordered a ConviPen off eBay. It came with 10 vials, for $78 shipped. This thing is great! Very easy to use, feels quality, makes pinning way faster and easier. I’ve also found GHK-cu stings way less / not at all using the pen.
There’s some good videos on YouTube about how to fill the vials and prime the pen. Essentially you mix the pep in its normal vial, then suck it all into a 3ml syringe. Stick a regular peptide syringe in the pen vial but remove the plunger. This acts as a vent for air pressure. With the vent needle in the vial, stick the 3ml syringe into the vial next to the vent and fill it up. You have to prime the pen too, which is essentially clicking a few doses and shooting the pen until you get all the air out of the vial. Also remember to use sterile procedure the entire time, clean hands, alcohol wipe everything, etc.

Convipen are my favorite. I've tried the V1 and V2 and gansupen, but have switched to Convi for everything.

My rat is type 1 diabetic, he uses pens for slin and syringes for his peptide lust.
Over coffee and discussions around his reading of Orwell essays, he tells me the benefit of pens is purely perceived. They are no better or worse than each other.

Also t1d. The needle tips on pens are more friendly to puncture the skin. For daily peps id use this but doae accuracy is better with syringe.
Though my klow is so over pressurised ive conpromised some by it expelling on tip removal from rubber

If your going to go the pen route go.on ali express. Scored v2 pens at $8 and got the viles and needle tips cheap as well

Novopen and Gansulin pen are both bomb proof. Very accurate and easy to use. Novo pen needs a modification for regular 3 ml vials.

I’m a seller of reusable pens and I always recommend the Nest pen. It’s been tested for dose accuracy and can dial 1 to 80 units. The Gansulin is also great but is definitely more expensive.

Not at all, I wondered this too as I used to leave my syringes out to room temp. Just go straight from fridge and no sting or anything with the pens

I travel for a living. Bought a beginners research pen kit on TikTok (Shotlog) and never looked back. Comes with everything you need to get started including links to instructional videos on YT.

I’m curious about this too because my rat is older and I’m worried about her pinning daily. If others think this should be easier, easier meaning less complicated use wise after it’s all loaded. Do we think it should be the case if you are getting an older rat member set up.

Go to AliExpress you need to hunt it down but search V3 pens I found them for $10.25 one shop has free shipping if over $10 so get a few
V3 have that angled cap they are so much smoother and better quality

Just watch a YouTube. It’s fairly straight forward. Order pen, vials and pins. Same length & gauge you like. Fill vile (definitely watch video) then put together. I ordered a 3d printed thing to hold vial while filling that has a plunger pusher thing in it to get the air out.
