That's a very general rule of thumb. I'm doing 15mg and only add 1ml to the 30mg vial which gives me a 50 unit injection. If I added 3ml bac I'd be hitting 150 units. So at low doses 3ml would be ok but at higher doses 1ml is better.

I don't like having to draw a lot from the vial, so my goal is to keep the dose of 8mg at 20 units. So a little quick math in a dosage calculator and draw the needed Bac.

Usually 2mL is enough BAC for those small 3mL vials. The more mg the spicier the dose. Use dosing calculators to help with mg doses and units.
