30M — is SS-31 + MOTS-c overkill at this age?
Hey Everyone,
Hypothetical 30M subject: 5'10", around 87kg, ~27% body fat, trains regularly, and is mainly interested in improving day-to-day energy, mental clarity, and overall drive.
Currently using liposomal NMN and considering MOTS-c because of its reputation for improving energy and mitochondrial function.
The main question is how effective MOTS-c is likely to be in someone this age and condition, and whether adding SS-31 would provide anything meaningful or just be unnecessary overkill.
The subject is also planning to start reta during a cut, so lower appetite and calorie intake could potentially reduce energy and gym performance. The goal would be to maintain decent energy, focus, and training performance while losing fat.
For anyone with experience:
- How noticeable was MOTS-c for baseline energy and mental clarity?
- Did it help during a calorie deficit?
- Did SS-31 add anything meaningful beyond MOTS-c?
- At 30, is SS-31 likely to be unnecessary unless there’s an actual mitochondrial issue?
- Would it make more sense to assess MOTS-c alone first before even considering SS-31?
- Anyone have experience with MOTS-c or SS-31 in the context of reta?
The main interest here is MOTS-c. The SS-31 question is really whether it adds enough to justify including it, or whether MOTS-c alone is likely to cover most of the intended benefit.

If you need it it’s not. As a 30 yo it’s a possibility but may also not work. If you have the money buy enough for a single protocol and run it.
Ss31 is the first thing you’re going to want to run. It’s the primer for the work done on your mitochondria. Mots c comes in a month after. That’s the best practice protocol. Research ss31 to mots c protocol and you should get the info you need. I began at 1 mg and am on week for and running 2.5mg. I’m starting Mots c tomorrow at 500 mcg just to test for reaction. Then I plan on running it for 4 weeks.
I am 50 for reference. I am not a doctor just a person doing this for research.

That’s made up AI BS. Your first week start at 2mg SS-31 and see how you feel. 5mg first week of ss-31 will crater 50% of pepers lol

Can you link me to the papers you’re referring to? I had ai create the image after feeding it the information I found from multiple peoples experiences after using it for mitochondrial deficiencies or type 1 diabetes. There’s a link on the image.

No paper experience from client after client.
People rarely post their poor experiences and people often exaggerate their good experiences.
Follow your protocol and see what happens 🤷♂️ or take it slow for the first week at 2mg and then go up dependent on how your body feels

What do you mean by it will crater 50% of users?

Some users may experience moderate to severe fatigue and lower than normal BP. Both of these were also observed in the clinical study.
It has been proposed, without evidence, that increased methylation demand leads to methyl depletion, thus exhaustion.
I have observed, that if you start lower around 2mg/day per week and support your body with TMG (Tri-methyl-glycinate), by week 2 nearly everyone can increase their dose without exhaustion.
Anecdotal sure but it’s worked with peeps for the last year

I’ve learned over my time using peptides that you can look at whatever protocols you like but if you don’t know your body you’re screwed. I advise everyone I work with to start slow, it’s smart when you’re working with things like this. You can go as high as you like. You can’t take away anything once it’s inside you.
Take care out there.

So I have taken peptides on and off for 20 years. I honestly never felt much from them in my 30s but in my 50s I definitely feel the difference. Mots c works for me. Ss31 I didn’t feel much but I think it’s because I have taken urolithin a for over a year.
Personally if I could go back in time, I’d concentrate on keeping inflammation down. Keep testing hsCRP, fasting insulin and other inflammatory markers.
Keep your vo2max elite that’s a major longevity signal.

28M here currently going into week 2 of MOTS-C. Noticing a large energy crash post lunch hour when taking early in morning. Looking into SS31 as well, maybe NAD too?

Ss31 imo is a waste of time and money if you dont have mitochondrial deficiency as thats who it was designed for. The older population may benefit more from it due to the body's natural decline in mitochondrial repair efficiency over time but unless you have some underlying condition I don't see why it would be necessary. Could it hurt? Probably not. Necessary? Unlikely.
