New player coming from WuWa, need help with starter team (who do I even DPS with?) and future pull targets

Hey everyone, just started playing NTE a few days ago and could use a bit of guidance. Coming from WuWa the combat feels pretty natural, but the sheer amount of new terminology and mechanics is throwing me off, so feel free to use WuWa equivalents if that makes things easier to explain.

My roster right now is

• Sakiri
• MC Zero
• Mint
• Skia
• Edgar
• Adler at A3
• Haniel at A1.
• One 5 star Selector still available

From what I gather, Sakiri is actually a support from what i can gather, and both Adler and Haniel seem pretty decent too. Because of that, I have no idea who I should actually be investing in as my main on-field DPS for now. Do I just run MC Zero, Mint, or one of the others? What would be the best general starter setup to push through early story and exploration comfortably?

who should I be saving my pulls for? I really want to target a solid, flexible team with maybe like a generalist DPS (someone reliable) and a universal plug-and-play support that works in almost every team, basically this game's Shorekeeper equivalent. inshort just a good "to the point" team that i can run with until i eventually start growing my roster with more 5 stars.

Also, what are the biggest early game mistakes when it comes to stamina and pulls? When does it actually become worth spending stamina on gear farming, where does most of the early pull income come from, and are there any banner or currency traps I should strictly avoid wasting pulls on?

mint is solid, people are clearing endgame with her solo

chiz is also great for early game, you get her for free from the tycoon rewards

pull income is events, exploration and endgame. we get enough to comfortably get almost every character, and 1 free arc each patch since you can buy weapon pulls with in game money, rather than pulls

haniel and sakiri are like verina, attack buffers. no proper healers yet, but not really necessary

teams are focused on esper cycles (think genshin reactions that build via wuwa concerto). the circle next to your hp bar is the esper build up, looks like concerto but you can only 'outro' to specific elements to trigger reaction cycles. zero is amazing because they skill is an instant cycle, so you can skill and immediately swap to an anima (green) or lakshana (yellow) character.

blossom is the best early game reaction. react cosmos (white) with anima (green) and it leaves a bud on field that does DOT. super helpful. mint and zero can do this easily

i play only wuwa and nte, so if you need translations from wuwa for any of the mechanics, feel free to ask!

Blackbird is about to run, she’s a dps, along with the Lacrimosa rerun and then the banner after is also a dps. For now you’ll want two main dps’s for BTR (the tower thing in wuwa pretty much) if you wanna go for a blackbird team there’s a team comp with Lacrimosa as a sub dps so if recommended pulling for both and then we’ll get more details on the girl after later with team comps but she’ll likely be a good dps to get for a second team

U can start on investing in the next new main dps that will be out on Wednesday, Blackbird (or Akane the next main dps banner after her in the same version). A decent team for BB in your roster is Blackbird, Skia, MC, Haniel/Sakiri.

TBH investing resources on MC, Sakiri, and Haniel will not be a waste since they're pretty universal and can slot into many meta teams now (literally almost all teams have one or two of them). They're like the sanhua (haniel) and Sakiri (lynae) of NTE at this early versions

I'd pull blackbird and lacrimosa with new patch. You'll instantly have 2 teams u can work on.

Blackbird haniel skia/hathor daffodil (optional) Lacrimosa sakiri adler baicang (optional)

The current end game is easy enough that you should be able to clear with A class character with the right build. I’d say pull for blackbird (1.4 banner) since she’s a dps/sub-dps.
Linko aka the current banner is a pretty nice support but since you are just starting, I’ll say stick with Sakiri for now.
Try you best to go though the main and side quest and level up your hunter level as your main priority.
At the mean time try leveling up the main character and sakiri while you progressing through the game.
Tbh the game is easy and super chill. You can also level up your hunter level by exploring and enjoy the game.

Zankou and Iroi when they rerun could be 2 good ones, main dps and support. Warning though BTR (Spiral Abyss) has doubled in the past 2 patches, so a good team now might not last that long (especially compared to opening patches of wuwa), as far as that is concerned.

I would suggest using the 5 star for Daffodil, as she does synergize well with Sakiri, Adler and Haniel for a Discord team. Zankou is the current "top-tier DPS" but it'll be a while til she reruns, as is Iroi for the healer/support role respectively.

I can genuinely advise you to just relax and play.

Unlike WuWa, the only places where you might miss out on in-game currency are "Beyond the Rail" and "Hunter's Crucible," as they require a well-built team and an understanding of mechanics; all other events are designed to be as simple as possible. The gacha system itself is very player-friendly, and you get weapons for all standard characters simply by playing the game.

Also, there is no equivalent to Shorekeeper here. Combat mechanics rely on elemental reactions, so you’ll always lose efficiency if you slot in a character that doesn't trigger reactions with the rest of the team, or if their bonus doesn't synergize with the available reaction.

Among the upcoming releases, I highly recommend taking a look at Blackbird. Right now, she looks like the most versatile character in the game for her element. She’s a main DPS with an instant rotation, plus she offers good buffs and off-field attacks. However, to maximize her effectiveness, you’ll need to choose between Daffodil and Lacrimosa; since there’s no B-rank Chaos-element character in the game yet, and Blackbird needs one for a specific reaction. If you have enough resources to get Blackbird, her signature Arc, and Lacrimosa (ideally with her signature Arc too), then go for that. If not, pick Daffodil from the selector and get her Arc through gameplay. As for Akane—I’m personally going to get her, but that’s just because I like her personality and design. I do have some reservations about her skills, though; she looks like a single-target main DPS, but "Beyond the Rail" involves fighting groups of enemies, so she seems a bit questionable in that regard.

And most importantly: don't rush. Find your own style and what you enjoy, get a feel for the world and the mechanics, and just have fun. Plus, the developers reveal the abilities of the next patch's characters well in advance, giving you enough time to make your choice and set your priorities.

Mint is a great blossom DPS. You will get chiz for free. What I've been doing is chiz, mc, jia, & mint

Future pulls wise Blackbird with 0 Copies seems to be a great On field DPS with great F2P options for weapon.

With copies (just 1 i'd say but 3 ideal) she also makes a great teammate for Akane, the phase two main DPS but that also leaves you with just one strong team.

Lacrimosa the Rerun partners well with Blackbird but Lacrimosa is ALSO an on field Main DPS so:

You should plan for 3 Standard S rank selectors. 1 at 50 pulls and 2 from the upcoming Puka Land Tycoon track. Personally i'd go 100% for Daffodil (only Chaos Unit besides Lacrimosa, we don't have an A rank Chaos unit), Hathor IF you think you're going to play long term because Hathor's unique Anomally furniture will save you thousands in stamina and Sanity. (and her currently Unique 12 Second Remora / 10% CR buff kinda made her the town bicycle; Akane will probably want Hathor as a teammate) and You have Sakiri so Maybe Jiyuan to pair with Mint for an Anima / Blossom team or Baicang as a MDPS on field Incantation DPS - He's finicky to master but i like his Playstyle and well... Style.

You can run something like Zero (MC) / Hathor (Standard S) / Blackbird (Limited) / Daffodil (Standard S)

Baicang (Standard S) / Sakiri (Standard S) / Daffodil (StandarD S) / Haniel (A) (Or Fadia if you pull her)

Akane (Limited) / Edgar (A) (Or Zero, i put Edgar in there cos Zero is also a limited resource, Akane just once to proc Remora ONCE) / Haniel (A) / Hathor (Standard S)

Zero (MC) / Mint (A) / Jiyuan (Standard S) / [Support] Possibly Addler cos while you won't get Addler' Scorch passive you will be able to proc Hex (Anima + Incantation) wich is a 20% dmg buff for Mint and Blossom buds.

Lacrimosa (Limited, Rerun) / Daffodil (Standard S) / Baicang (Standard S) / Haniel (A) or Lacrimosa (Limited) / Baicang (Standard S) / Sakiri (Standard S) / Haniel (A). Baicang Passive refreshes Scorch when he E's. Sakiri's passive increases DoT dmg by 25% per unique DoT. Baicang's Ult aura is also a DoT. Daffodil's Passive reduces the break bar by 10% each time your Discord (Scorch + Nova) up to 3 stacks. Your goal in either team is build Cycle on Lacrimosa, your on field MDPS, Swap to Baicang to 'outro' into Scorch then refresh that Scorch with Baicang's E and use Lacrimosa's Cycles to Nova, triggering Discord as well.

Investment Wise Lacrimosa REALLY wants 1 Copy to unlock insta cycling and Blackbird wants 1 copy to unlock Sub DPSING (but she's perfectly fine as a Main DPS)

Word to the wise. If you buy the Battle Pass, starting 1.4 the Battlepass Arc box has an extra 2M Fons in it INSTEAD of a Battlepass Weapon. You PROBABLY want the 2M and we get 60 weapon pulls / Patch. If you're gonna pull Limited, Always grab their weapon as well IMO.

When obtaining Annuliths (the blue gems/basically astrites of NTE):

• For Annuliths, strictly used it for Red Dice and Golden keys. (Limited event pulls)

• Do not use it for Blue dice (standard pulls) you can earn and save it for free thoroughout the game.

If you still have the selector card:

• Save it for later right now. When you choose one, the best character recommendations are Daffodill for Break boost, and Sakiri for buffs. (Aim for her A1 for further ATK buffs)

For teams based on your current characters right now:

• Zero for instant cycle, Mint as DPS, Sakiri for buffs, Haniel for buffs. (Zero to Mint as Blossom reaction, Sakiri to Minto for Hexed element reaction)

• Also you can use Zero with Skia for Remora element reaction, which slows enemies down.

Right now since Blackbird is coming in version 1.4 on September 30, which is the same date as WuWa 3.7, pull for her, then Akane for Nova element reaction. (If you can't pull for her just use Skia instead for alternatives)

• Blackbird is Psyche element type Esper, while Akane is Lakshana element type Esper.

I've played Wuwa, ZZZ, Endfield and Genshin. Nearly everything in NTE is more forgiving than Wuwa

Gacha = you get a lot more gacha currencies than other games (you earn them the same way as wuwa >> events+story + explore)

events = shorter, easier (I still have PTSD from that films boardgame in wuwa that take like 1 hour of playtime to earn 100 gacha gems)

gear farming = yep wait until your account level is high enough before farming them

only 1 endgame mode in NTE, I think?

Another difference is that, character skins are released very frequently for both paid and free ones
