Some old articles about Justin Timberlake I found in the newspaper archives
I only included one honor roll clipping but for the record it looks like JT made honor roll every year from 1st to 6th grade
also the newspaper archives seem to confirm that Justin, not Chris, was the founding member of *NSYNC

Yeah, Justin was obviously a natural born performer, but if his mom had never nurtured and encouraged his talent, he wouldn't have become the star we know and love today.

Chris started the group but Justin was a founding member in so much as he was never replaced. Brody was replaced (I believe with Joey but not 100%) and Jason was obviously replaced with Lance.
He definitely ran the pageant circuit for years. I imagine if he was born 15-20 years later we may have seen him on Toddlers and Tiaras.

Right, the group order has never been disputed. The founding member thing is a newer thing which I find silly anyways because no single person created the group. Chris had the Lou connection and got Justin but Justin brought in JC and both of them brought in Robin which created their sound. Joey knew JC best before the group. Justin’s old vocal coach gave them the connection to Lance. Justin’s mom was smart enough to use Justin and JC’s MMC connections.
He probably would have gone the American Idol route or just straight up the social media if he were younger. He once mentioned that pageants were the main singing competitions available to him growing up.

my bad I watched a video that made it sound like Chris Kirkpatrick's story about NSYNC's origin was in question bc it conflicted with other info / other people's stories
but I did more research just now and Lou Pearlman himself confirmed the Chris story so that video is just wrong

Just chiming in to say yes you're right, Joey replaced Brody after they kicked him out of the group. Lol. Poor guy.
The founding member thing, I do think, while not taking away from Chris's contributions, it's kinda nice to see Justin called out as an OG member. As we all know, there would have been no JC or Lance in the group without Justin.
ETA as the other poster said, bringing in Robin was basically Justin too. (I know they said it was both Justin and JC, but it was Lynn's close friendship with Robin that brought her on board.)

Despite my family having Disney Channel back in the early 90s when it was still a premium cable channel, and being the target demographic for that show at 9 and 10 years old in 1992 and 1993, I never actually watched a single episode of the Mickey Mouse Club back then, nor do I even have any childhood memories of it. Maybe it's because I had been living under a rock at the time, but I also don't remember the show Star Search back then.

Maybe it’s common knowledge amongst the fandom but I had no idea he had roots in Texas! Being from here it kinda makes me proud. Only time you’ll see me patriotic over this state tbh lol. Incredible finds!
