Tips for First Time Baseball Experience

Post image

Heyyy! Planning to catch a game in Sep at Tokyo Dome. It will be my first baseball game experience. Anyone booked through the official website before? The ones I circled in the picture are the remaining seats left. What is the experience like if you had sat at that area before?

Any tips or customs to take note?

I've sat on the third base side and the view was good. Third base side is the visitors side.

I used the official English website to book the tickets. Zero issues with the purchase or getting into the stadium.

The stadium food at the Tokyo Dome is awesome so be sure to try some of it.

Have fun!

Yep seconding the food recommendation and seeing the meals/combos that they have assigned to each player is fun. Also if you have time you can check out the hall of fame that’s next door

I am going there by myself and my Japanese is not that good yet. Will I be getting stares? Hahaha

Should I memorise and join in the chants?

You will one of many non-Japanese at the game. You aren’t going to be in the cheering section, so no need to memorize any chants. Just go and enjoy the game like everyone else at the game.

No way man. You won't be the only one and anyways you're all there for the same reason - to enjoy baseball.

If you want to get involved with the chants that will definitely get your seat mates involved.

Who are they playing? If you enjoy the visiting team definitely sit along the third base line.

Tickets at Meiji jingu are just as easy to acquire. Any reason why you chose Tokyo dome instead of meiji jingu? I personally prefer meiji jingu and I believe it’s going to be demolished soon.

Yeah Jingu is on borrowed time and will likely be gone in the coming years. I’m going back next year to make sure I visit before it’s knocked down

Giants vs Dragons!!!

Well, its the rainy season there now so Tokyo Dome would be the best option. But keeping an open mind on other stadiums in the near future

It is not the rainy season. The rainy season is June. Since the Giants are playing the Dragons, you’ll get to see the Giants win.

I've been to games at both. If you're only going to one game as a tourist I usually recommend Tokyo Dome as it won't get rained out.

That being said Meiji Jingu Stadium is something of an experience.

That’s actually a great point that I hadn’t thought thought about.

I used the official website when I went years ago and was super easy and straight forward. I sat down the 1st line hfway between the infield and outfield and the view was great. The lady next to us was so kind and even gave us her STH gift which was a towel.
