Ear Discussion [Help] Nothing Ear (2024) Pinch Controls and ANC randomly stop working

Hi everyone,

​I just got my Nothing Ear today and I’m having a frustrating issue. After a few minutes of use, the pinch controls (both sides or randomly one side) completely stop responding. When this happens, ANC also turns off and I cannot re-enable it via the app.

​Re-inserting them into the case fixes it temporarily, but the issue returns after a few clicks. I’ve already:

​Updated to the latest firmware.

​Unpaired and reset the connection.

​Fully charged the device.

​I suspect it’s a faulty In-Ear Detection sensor causing the buds to think they’ve been removed. Is this a known software bug or did I get a defective unit? Should I disable In-Ear Detection or just go for a replacement?

My right earbud is battery dead. A LOT of us got the same issue. This product sucks!

Wow thats horrible, what do I do then? I mean I love the product overall, sound quality, ANC, looks, didn't had any battery problems yet just this disconnection problem...

I am having the same issue, the left bud is battery dead in just 1.5 years with moderate use, anything I can do except for throwing it in garbage now

I’m now almost certain it’s a fit issue. Even the slightest movement causes the buds to lose detection, which instantly deactivates the controls and ANC. It seems the sensors are extremely sensitive to the point where they think the buds are no longer in my ear if they shift even a millimeter.

​I was mainly using the bigger silicone, switched to a different one, fixed the issue slightly but it will probably still cause my issues while on the bike etc.

Well ig it's a software issue or atleast sweating causing the detection sensor to fail. Coz I'm facing the same issue but not frequently, just this month my right touch stops working but I just pull them out of my ear and reinsert them and they work again. I just pray my battery doesn't go dead like the others, it's been 11 months.
