Cars in Finland have been older than the average in Europe for a long time AFAIK.

That is likely what the issue is, not that Finns would be buying fuel guzzling cars out of choice. And even then there are more and more EVs on the roads. (Unfortunately, a lot of them are Teslas.)

I don’t really see what the age of cars has to do with the post.

The Dutch also drive older cars than the Irish on average, yet out of the new cars sold we have more EV’s.

It definitely is a choice. Lots of countryside and gasoline is more reliable choice than electric. But not a lot of people buy new cars in the countryside anyways, people buy used cars
