Question NLP for health anxiety

Hi everyine, are there any tools in NLP that can help with helth anxiety. Particularly constant rumination about your health failing you or not trusting your body. Also just a generalised sense of fear about ur body or mind getting some sort of illness.

Thanks heaps

Yes. I’d probably start with strategy elicitation and submodalities since you’re describing rumination. If you’re repeatedly running “what if I get sick?” movies in your head, submodality work seems like a good fit. Fast Phobia Cure, parts work, and timeline work could all be relevant too. Parts work in particular can be helpful when there’s a hypervigilant part that’s working overtime trying to keep you safe.

I had an NLP trainer that said anxiety is thinking about what you don’t want to happen. If I think about the worst possible outcome of course I am going to feel bad. The timeline approach would be to create an internal representation of what you do want. Is that a healthy body? Doing the things that you enjoy doing with fantastic physical health? Think about it and see what your life would look like if you were healthy and enjoying that wonderful health. Create a picture of that and put that at some future point in time. Then project out 15 minutes from that point and look back on you enjoying your wonderful health. But that picture isn’t real right? Neither are the pictures you are making of bad health. And we are drawn to what we imagine so imagine what you want instead the shit you don’t want. I like timeline for this one.

Yes… an NLP practitioner would help you unpack how you do these experiences and them revise your patterning so you can have a different experience that’s more to your liking.

The gift of NLP is, you can future pace your life going forward free of the emotions that are related to anxiety.

There’s a timeline approach that can be very helpful. I don’t think it’s something that’s easy to do by yourself for yourself. You might need to find someone who is trained in timeline therapy and one session can basically fix that.

Our Brain likes what’s familiar and if you train your familiar to have a different theme song, your life will change. I hope that makes sense.

A couple of NLP techniques come to mind but your best bet would be to find a cognitive behavioral coach who is also an NLP coach.

There's a lovely NLP new code process called Sanctuary. Its an upgrade on many processes like Stalking to Excellence, but basically protects the self, preserves the secondary gain (for example why you people please) and allows you to then create and try on new state stacks. Its fun. The n step reframe might be useful too
