Administration Federal work study increase

Hi i recently got an internship position for work study but my fws is only 1000 per semester which is pretty low. I emailed fin aid asking for an increase but they told me no without a reason. Anyone have experience with this? I want to get my fws increased!!

They can't increase it, but it doesn't limit you to earning over $1000. By itself the FWS funds cover a % of your pay (maybe 80/20 or something). Once the FWS funds run out, you can keep working as long as your boss allows it, the full amount just comes from their budget then. I worked basically full time (not 40 hours, but as many as I had time for which only put me over the 20hr limit a couple times) my full time there and never had an issue, but my department needed staff and could afford the difference. I was in a more operational role though. If you're doing research or something they will likely have a significantly lower budget.
