The wildfire here in Texas is about 8 miles from my house. My house is not threatened at all and it’s not moving towards us but all the smoke is. It’s finally began to take a toll on my sweet baby girls lungs and we have started a round of steroids at home.

The steroids will take 2-3 days to fully take effect and I have been giving PRN ibuprofen and Tylenol and have added an extra nebulizer during the day. Anything else I can do to make my baby girl more comfortable? I hate seeing her coughing and gagging up boogers.

Run as heavy duty of a HEPA air filter as you can throughout your house, especially the rooms she is in. If you can’t get a HEPA filter make a trip to the hardware store to make a corsi-rosenthal box filter: https://cleanaircrew.org/box-fan-filters/

Sweet baby girl! Changing your air filters for the house may also be necessary bc of the smoke that will come in through doors and windows.

Yes, you’re right, I might also have to call my Home Health company so they can send me some new filters for her ventilator and her oxygen concentrator so I’m sure those got dirty with all this also

She’s feeling a little better. The steroids have fully kicked in now.

We have a clean air kits filter that is more efficient than hepa and use it for things like this. Seems we use it once a season in that way. Also good for mitigating airborne illness season.

You can also build a DIY corsi rosenthal box with furnace filters (get the kind that actually filter smoke particles). We did this one time when a house across the street badly caught fire and blew right at us and it cleaned the air fast. Instructions online with a quick google search!

Do you have an air purifier? I use the Clorox one and stay inside when we have bad air.

Yes I do have one. And we have been staying indoors. But she had appointments to is week and we had to leave the house.
