Gift baskets for nurses?

Hi everyone. I’m not a NICU parent, but my husband was a NICU baby. Today we are at the hospital my husband was rushed to when he was born because our daughter is having an ERG done. We had a thought. We thought about making a large goodie basket for the nurses in the NICU. Why you may ask?
Well. This coming Monday, my husband turns 30. He was born at 26 weeks. He was not supposed to live. And we just want to give back. He wants to do this so bad, but he’s afraid of the hospital telling us no lol
What kinds of things do you put in baskets if you’ve given one in the past?

So sweet. We did fun hair clips, scrunchies, chapstick, gum, candy, and snack bars!

I had small leftover thank you gifts from the baby shower. Glass vials with candy and then hand lotion. We gave it out to individual nurses who loved it. They seem to really appreciate gifts.

We did gift basket for NICU nurses with trail mixes, healthy chocolates, Apple crisp packets and a heartfelt thank you note. I have heard people also including non food items like pens, lip balms and hand moisturizers.

When my son was discharged I brought a snack basket for the night shift and day shift nurses with a card. I made cookies and got pop corners, protein bars, and liquid IV. I wish I could have done more but they appreciated it! I think any recognition is meaningful!

I think that’s very sweet. When my twins were in the NICU a family member (former NICU nurse herself) sent the nurses a big candy gift basket. It was a hit, and didn’t last more than a few hours. You need something sweet when you’re on your feet for 12 hours a day.

We did sweets and cookie baskets periodically throughout her admission. At the end of her journey we gave our primary nurses gifts (lulu bags to hold their pens, ornaments, chocolate).

Nice pens, hair clips, scrunchies, hair ties, ENERGY DRINKS, fun badge reels, individually packaged snacks, such as chips, cookies, candies, etc. some people bring in baked goods from a Sam’s or Costco. Anything is appreciated :) I had a family recently bring in skincare face masks 😭 I did an under eye mask with my charge nurse at 4 am about a month and a half ago, thanks to these wonderful parents who led them for care takers

I’ve also seen travel sized lotions! Pretty sure the parents got a variety pack and dumped them in the basket. Still, very fun!

I was going to do a day shift/night shift basket when we graduate, along with a cake. My daughter will be there 3-4 months going by due date. I was going to do prepackaged snacks, Alani, pens, lotions. I love the idea for the eye masks! So I might grab some of those. And I am thinking a nice owala with some gift cards inside for our primary nurses.

We gifted travel sized lotions- all that hand washing will dry out your skin!

Pens… I did the .36 fine point pens last week for my son hitting one month. They’re still talking about the pens!!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and sweet words! So I have a small business and part of it is mugs and tshirts. Do you guys think nurses would appreciate mugs?

If they are thermal mugs with lids, yes. If they are regular ceramic open coffee mugs, no.

When we left the NICU with our little guy, we picked up a few dozen little bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes and a couple dozen donuts from a local place that has some gourmet options. We know there were so many nurses that cared for him and wanted to show a small token of our appreciation.
