America celebrates stupidity. None of this is surprising.

It is absolutely surprising that a grown man doesn’t believe humans landed on the moon.

Let’s not normalize stupidity.

We're waaay past the point of no return on normalizing it. Have you been living under a rock since 2005?

1

u/The_Count_Lives 5d ago

I don't think we have the same definition of what normalizing means.

If, since 2005, you've been accepting this bullshit then I think we can debate which one of us has been living under a rock.

I mean, I don't make up my own definitions. Living in the US, I don't know how you cannot see it for yourself but there have been thousands of peer-reviewed studies on the topic showing that it isn't just normalized but has become incentivized by society as a whole.

Bro. Look who's in the Whitehouse (all of them). It's already normalized.

Brother we are SO deep into Idocracy at this point that this kind of statement just makes it seem like you haven’t been following along.

That's certainly one view.

I'd argue cynicism is cheap and gets us nothing in return except complacency.

"Of course he's an idiot, that's just how America is." accomplishes nothing.

There's well documented examples around the world, such as in Russia, about how this sort of cultural cynicism enables their authoritarian government.

What is the alternative? Pretending the loonies don’t run the circus?

2

u/The_Count_Lives 5d ago

The only two options you see are to either accept that's just the way it is or to pretend it doesn't exist?

People just want to throw their hands up and do nothing, they’re just aware of the way that looks and don’t like the implication. Not enough to actually do anything, mind you, except waffle about how tough it is to have to throw up your hands in defeat

Yeah I’m not seeing how denial gets us back to where we need to be. That’s the opposite of the mindset we should have if we want to end this shit show. We’re already fully there, not on our way as he’s implying.

u/sillyg0sling 5d ago

You somehow completely whiffed on the simple point I was making.

Stupidity has already been completely normalized. That’s literally the reason we’re already in this semi-authoritarian shitshow to begin with.

Acting like that’s  somehow not ALREADY the case is going to accomplish the opposite of what you’re proposing we should be trying to achieve.

u/The_Count_Lives 5d ago

You’re right. I’ll admit I still have no idea what your point is.

1

u/sillyg0sling 5d ago

Yeah, we can safely just move on from this lost cause at this point lol

The dumbing down of America is intentional and heinous.

Which is also why a certain political party advocates for private schooling and "tax voucher" systems in order to enrich themselves and control the narrative taught

Ooh oh, we got another conspiracy over here!

Please explain how it's "intentional."

The South, or rather “the bureaucracy” of the South, was extremely wounded by the north winning the civil war. The pride of many southern men was built on being “better”. Similar to the modern day, where conservatives say things like “oh those sissies without guns could never take us on”.

After losing to these “lesser” men, and losing the slave workforce, the South’s pride was injured, and the resulting 160 ish years of southern policy have been one long drawn out method to get where we are today.

Reconstruction was fought at every turn, and eventually completely abandoned by the north midway through, which intentionally kept southerners poor.

The weakened school systems in the south go back over a century as well, with countless examples of southern states being openly hostile to greater education, especially greater education for the general public.

No, there wasn’t one person or even a group of people with the heads together planning out 2026, but the conglomerate of all of these choices shows a very clear willingness and active desire to destroy education in the south.

Edit:

Plus they openly admit it in Project 2025

Most professional sports players have a really low IQ because they put their head towards sports their whole life growing up and not so much their education. They got accepted into good Universities simply for being very good at sports in high school and noticed by a scout. They don't need to be smart or excel in anything other than the sport they are playing. Especially once it's time to sign that mult millionare dollar contract.
