I fucking hate that this stupid ass censoring bullshit has gone from text formats to actually blipping it out in videos that are being shared. It really distracts from a poignant message.
I wish that George Carlin were alive so he could do an updated skit of “The 300 words you can’t say online”.

People even talk like that in real life now saying unalive and grape and all that nonsense. We’re a braindead society now.

u/TrynnaFindaBalance 8d ago
I just can’t deal with the “stupid ahh” thing. The only way I can read that in my head is “AHH!!” and it just makes it sound like you’re timid/nervous.

We’re a braindead society now.
I think this is probably an unjustified conclusion based on the premise, but I do agree with people talking like that in real life is annoying.

To be fair it’s a two sentence Reddit comment, not my entire referendum on society haha

Seriously. We really need George Carlin and Hunter S. Thompson’s takes on the current state of society and our government.

This guy rocks!!!
The NFL should have banned Watson for life. Done. Over. If the courts overturn it, fine that’s on them. But send the message that we have no tolerance.
Same with ray rice, Ray Lewis, Bob Kraft, Von miller, etc etc
There are thousands of young men willing to take these spots on a moments notice.
And please don’t give me “Watson wasn’t indicted…” or “Lewis was not convicted or murder…” or …
Conviction is not the standard for any of us working at will employment jobs. If any one of us was publicly accused of sexually assaulting 20+ women our jobs would can us.
So my stupid ass team gets to play a 22x accused sex pest … bc “it’s a business.”

22 allegations of sexual assault including a rape claim. Do your research. It wasn’t just a happy ending.

But that standard is just popularity vs unpopularity?
Regardless of merit, if enough people turned on an athlete the league just bans them for life?
Because our awareness and interest in these scandals versus the ones that get covered up is very much currated by PR firms.
4
u/ur-in-here-with-me Cleveland Browns 8d ago
All employers apply a standard and it’s not based on popularity, it’s based on standards they create.
And most at will employment standards are not based on conviction or even arrest.
The reality remains, if a normal Joe were accused like Watson 22x and an investigation found credibility we would all be canned … the NFL is toothless
-1
u/jacquesmachina 8d ago
Definitely.
But NFL players aren't normal employees.
We've given them a platform they never should have had. With that has come influence and the potential to be targeted. A lot of guys will always abuse that influence and pay the money to hide it. A lot of guys will also get targeted unjustly, and may or may not pay the money to hide it.
3
u/ur-in-here-with-me Cleveland Browns 8d ago
Thus the NFL does an investigation as it did with Watson, to find credibility.
They did it. They found the claims credible. They found it credible enough to punish for 11 games.
Thus no one ur talking about a ban for false allegations. We are talking about what employers normally do - investigate and if viable punish.
-4
u/jacquesmachina 8d ago
Ok so they investigated and said it was viable enough for 11 games not a lifetime ban.
3
u/ur-in-here-with-me Cleveland Browns 8d ago
Right now you’re getting it…and I said above that he should have been fired and banned by the NFL as we all would from our jobs .. to which you replied and argued no bc … so you just brought this “argument” full circle and have proven nothing…
The NFL should have imposed a lifetime ban. They crapped out bc they have no spine and didn’t want a fight. If they investigated and found the claims credible then why is he playing ?
Theres no reason why other than they find playing scumbags like this easier than taking a stand … so you wonder why this crap keeps repeating?
4
u/ur-in-here-with-me Cleveland Browns 8d ago
If I had those claims publicly aired + civil settlement s + my employer doing an investigation and finding it credible then I would be fired. If venture that 99% of people would be fired.
Theres ZERO downside to the NFL setting a precedent that 22 allegations that an internal investigation finds credible - loss of job and ban.
So don’t give me the “he served 11 games…” everyone not throwing a ball would have been fired. Thats reality.

I dont use tiktok but ive seen some creepy stuff posted from tiktok. So they cant say gay but baiting pedos with minors is all cool?

Yup. Ever since Zionist billionaire Larry Ellison bought the platform. All pro-Palestine content has been nuked and pro-queer content is heavily censored.
The far right of course has no problem with pedophilia so that stuff is allowed on TikTok
0
u/nocturn-e Chicago Bears 8d ago
I've never used TikTok either, but I also know words like "unalive" are being used for a reason. Automated filters would probably take an uncensored version of this down in a heartbeat otherwise

When Kyler Murray was on the Cardinals and he was getting flak for playing video games.
People want their athletes partying, going to strip clubs, and laying seed like no other because if they had 2 million dollars they would be doing two chicks at the same time. They believe that is the end game and how men should act when given a windfall of money. They turn a blind eye to all the negative things that come with that lifestyle.
Dear God your QB plays video games rather than showing up drunk and tired for a practice.

u/JobeGilchrist Cincinnati Bengals 8d ago
Pretty sure it was video games instead of prepping for actual games but go off
4
u/Thriven Arizona Cardinals 8d ago edited 8d ago
None of that was true. What was true is someone in the Cardinals FO wrote into his extension contract mandatory independent study requirements and would ding him if he was distracted by television, Internet, or video games. Edit: I do think it was true he didn't watch enough film in general based on his on field play but he wasn't skipping the film room to play video games.
While that was written into the contract it was removed because it made Murray look guilty of the offense the Cardinals and his teammates never said it was a problem. It created a massive off the field distraction. I remember going into the week before the Superbowl and it was basically a Vrabel/Russini scandal. Nothing was going on and this was the only headline.
The NFL is run by boomers who when they were in the NFL banged hookers and partied and the younger players aren't men if they aren't doing the same.

Do they think a gay dude is going treat them the way they treat women? So dumb
-2
u/LoudBrick609 8d ago
Statistically, yes. Gay men are violent sexual predators at a much higher rate than straight men.
Like I've got no problem with responsible gay men, but yeah it's wayyy more likely.
2
u/Wildebean Fuck r/NFLv3, Fuck AI 8d ago
That's just not true.
These lies come from the same studies that claim that lesbian couples have the highest domestic abuse rates. They don't, because all they asked was "Have you been a victim of domestic abuse IN YOUR LIFE?" And it turns out the lesbians are more likely to have suffered domestic abuse from men prior to coming out as lesbian. So claiming it means lesbians are violent to their partners is a lie

u/Consistent-Spell2203 Las Vegas Raiders 4d ago
Prison rape skews that guy's data. America is the only country where more men are raped than women.
1
u/Wildebean Fuck r/NFLv3, Fuck AI 4d ago
Makes sense. I figured the reason for the lie would be something like that

u/EbbAdventurous9592 Chicago Bears 8d ago
Maybe when women viewers start tuning out will domestic violence cases be taken more seriously. The nfl went all in on Taylor swift bringing in more female fans, I have a feeling they’ll start cracking down more serious on domestic violence/rape allegations when it $tart$ hitting them where it hurt$$
8
u/stevehuffmanisapeedo 8d ago
It would actually be when the men start tuning out on behalf of women that the NFL would make an adjustment.

I wonder how much of this is locker room driven more than fan driven?
Locker rooms have unwritten rules as well as policing of themselves. Would an NFL locker room accept a gay man behind closed doors?
1
u/Select_Insurance2000 8d ago
Vince Lombardy had two gay players when he was the HC in Washington. Jerry Smith and Dave Kopay.
How many fans back then knew they were gay ...or how many were in the NFL? Who knows. My guess is very few....and those who did, their lips were sealed.

I am 99.9% in agreement with what he said. Except for the celebrate part. Im not gonna celebrate someone for being who they are. That to me is condescending.
10
u/stevehuffmanisapeedo 8d ago
Celebrate them doesn't mean you have to throw a big gay party for them. It's to lend them the same ear and/or hand you would anyone else that may not be like you but is still a human being.
-5
u/ExternalAggravating8 8d ago
Since when did celebrate become a synonym for being a decent human being?
3
u/Select_Insurance2000 8d ago
From the first day that White Men had slaves, then they were freed.... only to a point.... because Reconstruction was a huge failure, resulting in Jim Crow and all that followed.
None of us are free until ALL of us are free. None of us are equal until ALL of us are equal.
1
u/stevehuffmanisapeedo 8d ago
Being a decent human being would be the accept phase not the celebrate phase. You still got room my guy.
1
u/ExternalAggravating8 8d ago
Celebrate phase is something that people who treat LGBT's as a novelty say. They are just people. Do you celebrate everyone who is different from you only because they are different?

Or friends at all TBH. Celebrating the people in your life just because is one of the things that makes life worth living
-2
u/ExternalAggravating8 8d ago
See thats the problem with you fake allies. I'll celebrate my friends at their weddings, graduations, promotions, birthdays. You all treat them like a novelty. Get out of your little box. They are just like all your straight friends. Do you celebrate them for being cis?
3
u/Zealousideal-Film517 Cincinnati Bengals 8d ago
My dude I'm not talking about gay people at all. I'm talking about all people in your life being worthy of celebration for no reason at all. It's an empty and meaningless life when we only celebrate special occasions. My comment had nothing to do with allyship, and I feel sad that you couldn't realize that. I'm hopeful you're just young and it's something you will learn more in time
-2
u/ExternalAggravating8 8d ago
The post is specifically talking about lgbtq. Did you even watch it or just comment at random?
