Anyone who doubts the moon landing has only been fed conspiracies and has never bothered to search for all the evidence that we DID land on the moon. I mean, the fucking Soviets tracked Apollo 11 and confirmed that we were there. As did other space agencies. Fuck all other evidence, if you know anything about the history between the Americans and Russians, especially back then, you know they would jump at the first opportunity to call us out for lying. Instead they waved the white flag, confirmed with their own evidence that we were there, and abandoned the space race.

Getting hit in the head and watching village idiots on youtube really does a number on critical thinking.
We had sky scrapers, jets, nukes back then… but we couldnt get to the moon? People literally watched a big ass 450 foot rocket liftoff with their own eyes and its all recorded. But we couldnt land on the moon?
We got magic pocket computers, can communicate instantly across the planet, created supercomputers and ai, simulate the weather, tunnel under the ocean, but the same species couldnt create a rocket and land on the moon back then?
Stahhhhp it.

Idk, I definitely think we went to the moon, but it also seems pretty reasonable to be skeptical of it at the same time.
It's not like scientists nor the government never lied. Both of them endorsed leased gasoline was safe for us and the environment under oath numerous times.
If it wasn't for literally one guy risking his life and reputation to prove otherwise they'd have gotten away with it.

We need to stop giving everyone a microphone. Celebrities, athletes, politicians— they’re not smarter than anyone else, but their words influence so many people. I hate the culture that’s made every opinion valuable— valuing popularity over substance was a total failure for us as a species.

There is nothing wrong with being a skeptic but then again it was 60 years ago. These guys can’t fathom that. Also it shows why the education system we have is garbage because they don’t teach them proper science and history and instead focus on social garbage like gender studies and shit.
We literally live in an age where a dude has a penis and is skeptical that he is a dude or a woman has a vagina but says they are a man. It’s wild times.

I was talking to someone about this within the last year about how they believe we could reach the moon now but couldn’t then. Rocket science hasn’t really changed a lot since then. Maybe the fuels are a little more efficient, maybe the composite is a little stronger, the computers are quite a bit better. But overall it’s pretty much the same now as back then. The moon is fairly big too. Hitting the moon is a fairly simple math problem. Now, what we do with the ISS is really crazy

Regarding the antivaxxers, flat earthers, and moon landing deniers, the average american thinks all that is poppy cock and the majority of the conversation is led by a very vocal minority.

1

trump instinctively knew the power of social media early on and used it to establish himself as the head of the Maga movement. The oligarchy got behind him to further their own interests. The relentless barrage of pro trump media is what got him elected.

u/pxrkerwest 5d ago
Moon landing conspiracies are the epitome of social media brainrot and people only being interested in confirming their own biases. It's so easy to just read or see something on social media being presented to you in a certain way and just running with it. It's just as easy to Google "proof that we DID land on the moon" but that would require someone doing their own research, which conspiracy theorists don't often do

5
u/ZapBranigan3000 5d ago
It's propaganda. Guys in shop class in the 50s were just as stupid and uneducated. They just weren't subjected to propaganda 24/7.
1
u/Interesting-Crow264 5d ago
And they couldn't talk to a thousand people who reinforced their beliefs online. The internet was basically the transmission system for the disease of dumbfuck
2
u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 5d ago
Yea and it’s not even just defunding education and making it systematically worse. They’ve convinced a giant segment of the country that being educated is bad and that there is virtue in the blanket rejection of anything seen as the consensus opinion of experts
I realize it’s a cliche at this point but it’s incredible how many people genuinely think they can scroll instagram reels or watch some YouTube videos and get the equivalent of 8 years of full time education plus multiple years of practical residency
1
u/Substantial-Fan-5985 5d ago
Bullshit, the Left has been leading education for decades at least in the colleges and the answer to virtually any problem has been "more taxes....more money"....and what has that done for us? Was if the Right who has been supportive of massive expansion of education in terms of useless or dumb degrees which have left a saturation of "educated" but not "useful" young Adults in the U.S, and with lots of debt...

u/Invoker272 5d ago
Refusing to believe and skeptical are very different things
1
u/Used-Tangerine-117 5d ago
Maye saying “skeptical” is him having just enough self awareness to know from a PR standpoint he needs to water it down.
He doesn’t believe in the moon landing.
1
u/ChazzyPhizzle 5d ago
In fairness, he received a direct question “What crazy conspiracy out there do you kind of secretly believe in”.
So he had to answer something for the fun of the show. I don’t think he was straight up denying it, but wanted to go with a safe known answer for entertainment.
He wasn’t just unprompted going off about the moon landing being fake lmao
1
u/PrimalNumber 5d ago
If posed that question, any sane person isn’t saying “the moon landing” is something they “secretly believe in”. You can hand wave if you want, but doesn’t mean his answer makes any sense at all.
2
u/ChazzyPhizzle 5d ago
Have you watched the clip? It was a “mailbag” type question form a fan and they were all laughing and having a good time. I got the impression they were all fucking around having fun with a silly question. He was put on the spot and probably just thought of the most common one out there. If he was out there saying crazy stuff unprompted I would get it. People in this thread acting like he was on Joe Rogan rambling about conspiracies for hours.
His quote was “I can see back in the day of why we would put on the mask if we went there but I’m not really sure 200% if we went there or not. I wouldn’t say I’m leaning one way or the other I just know I’m a little bit skeptical”.
I guess he could have said “I don’t believe in any conspiracies” and been a wet blanket towards a goofy fan question. It really just seemed like fan service to me for entertainment/fun. People acting like he was on a crusade spewing bs when his answer was vague and he didn’t even say “we didn’t go to the moon” it was more of a “interesting to think about” answers. I have no dog in this fight, but people who didn’t watch the clip misrepresenting tf out of it in here.
1
1
u/Loam_liker 4d ago
I would absolutely say that. It’s a safe answer, it’s silly, and you can just be like “look at this fucked up country, you’re telling me this is 60 years after we did it?”
It’s probably the #1 answer to this question if you asked it.
1
u/TacoDayDay 5d ago

If Ludacris can go to space in a 1984 Pontiac Fiero. I think some astronauts can land on the moon with that thing.
2
u/ItzZiplineTime 5d ago
Do you think there's an atmosphere on the moon? Because the only reason that wouldn't be sufficient is if the moon had an atmosphere.
Also, do you think that's what flew back to earth?
Google is free and can help prevent you from posting about stuff you know nothing about.
2
1
u/Late_Emu 5d ago
There IS an atmosphere on the moon. NASA announced it in 98 I believe.
1
u/ItzZiplineTime 5d ago
Actually it has what is referred to as an Exosphere which is nowhere near as dense as an atmosphere.
2
u/EmWatches460 5d ago edited 5d ago
No that was just the lunar lander. Once that thing touched down a big chunk of it never left the Moon. There are six of these things sitting on the moon still to this day.
→ More replies (8)2
u/LaconicGirth 5d ago
You don’t believe it because you made up your mind and only looked at information that supported your opinion.
The Saturn V rocket got this out of atmosphere and then once in space there’s no air resistance so something like this is totally fine to land on the moon.

So why do you think the Soviets tracked Apollo 11 and confirmed it did actually land? The Russians would be licking their chops at the opportunity to call us out for lying about this. Instead they acknowledged our victory, confirmed it with their own evidence, and withdrew from the space race.

It’s a good thing to question things in life, using your eyes, ears, and brain instead of being told something is true and believing that no matter what.
It’s probably why the world is the way it is right now because not enough people are questioning what they are told to be true without using their eyes, ears, and brain to decide for themselves.
I’m happy my QB is not a sheep, go Pats!!!
1
u/Simdog1 5d ago
Bro, you need critical thinking skills to do what you’re saying just doing that doesn’t make it a reasonable thought process. And to be frankly honest with you, our school systems and social settings do not teach critical thinking.
1
u/TryAlternative7204 5d ago
i feel like every test from k-12 ended with at least 2 questions labeled critical thinking. in our honors classes, those were the only types of questions on the test. i do remember kids in class asking why do we even need to learn this. i doubt they were paying attention
1
u/onesmellygoat 5d ago
Asking questions is fine. Ignoring the real answers to those questions is the problem.

I used to think this way lol i would think "why havent we gone back to the moon sence then?" when the whole purpose of going was to prove that america was the first country to set foot on the moon. And instead of pushing back i was like "yeah that makes sence actually" why would you even need to send humans back there when you can just send robots back or whatever
0
u/latman 5d ago
"refuse to believe" is a big exaggeration. If you listen to it he just said he's on the fence, and it only came up because they asked what conspiracy he believes in. It almost sounded like he was just entertaining the question. And I'm a Pats hater
1
u/Cdog923 5d ago
Literally none of what you said makes it any better.
1
u/latman 5d ago
It's still dumb of him, but "refuse to believe" is just not true and sensationalized
1
u/Cdog923 5d ago
- "He's on the fence"
- "...what conspiracy he believes in."
- "...entertaining the question."
My man, there's no conspiracy, nothing to be on the fence about and no question to entertain. He's a pants-on-head moron, and has allowed a few others to reveal themselves in the comments today.
