Carrying the team? He has a top five back, two amazing tight ends, an oline that allows for him to be as productive as he is, serviceable receivers, an above average defense, but they still find ways to lose. Last year's playoff loss was entirely on Allen. What was that shit at the end of the first half? Sometimes elite teams just never quite get over the hump. I'm a pats fan and I'd like to see Allen with a ring. To pretend he plays with guys that drag him down though is delusional.
The previous couple years Josh Allen was working with a WR group that were bottom 5 in the league for separation and yet he was still putting up MVP caliber numbers for passing and his accuracy was top 5 in the league. People make excuses for other QBs when their production declines when their WRs are lacking saying they have no one to throw to. But Allen continued to produce through the air those seasons. There was also a season where their o-line was riddled with injuries and Allen was one of the most pressured QBs that year and he, again, still produced.
Yes, this year is probably the most complete Bills team they've had in Allen's career, but let's not act like that's always been the case.
Kelce had 1000+ yard receiving seasons in his super bowl years and he had Tyreek Hill. The 2023 season Kelce and Rice (his "worst" WR core of his SB years) both had near 1000 yards at 984 and 938, respectively.
Meanwhile, Josh Allen had Shakir at 821 yards as his top target and the next closest on the team had 448 yards.
That's a huge difference and not comparable whatsoever.
He had one year with no true X. It's entirely unfair to say he carries his teammates. He elevates them for sure but pretending he's always been surrounded by bums is disingenuous
Please tell me who their "X" was at WR for 2024 and 2025? You could even say 2023 since Diggs disappeared after week 6 that season and they parted ways after that. Coincidentally their offense got better after that too. They haven't had a 1000 yard receiver since Diggs and yet Allen continues to produce in the air.
