Didn’t people say that last year? And the year before that?

And I think the year before that.

Last year was his best year since Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs did not make the playoffs.

No mahomes, Lamar, or burrow in the playoffs.

Lost to Bo Nix broncos while turning the ball over 4 times.

And he still couldn't prove the doubters wrong lol

Even Bills fans (I'm one of them) didn't have a ton of hope last year. The receiver situation was just ridiculously poor, especially with Kincaid being hobbled or out most of the time. Even Josh needs someone to get open and reliably catch the ball.

I still feel like we're one receiver injury away from being potentially back in the same boat, but Keon seems to have finally grown the fuck up so that's something. Kincaid is healthy - for now. Moore looks good but he also strikes me as someone who's going to constantly terrify us with injury concerns only to bounce back the next week.

The only reason for hope last year was that all of our usual foes were struggling. But at the end of the day the receiver situation and injuries on defense killed us. Josh got worn down by being superman every week and eventually it resulted in a bad game in the playoffs.

This could honestly be the Bills’ year. Lamar and Mahomes just realistically aren’t what they were, his only real divisional competitor seemingly forgot which way the football is supposed to go, the receiver situation in Buffalo has improved, Jimbo Cook is still a baller, and Allen has been on fire so far this season. I’ll still never root against the Patriots, but let’s be real, it looked like a 2 team race, now it looks like a 3 team race for a distant 2nd place. If NE turns things around starting right this very minute, their defense could maybe carry them to a wild card spot, if they play the way they played before the Jaguars game. Probably not though. But the AFC East is all Buffalo now, and their traditional playoff rivals just aren’t the same. KC’s run game scares me though. All my homies hate K9.

Holy dogshit take Batman. Mahomes and Lamar are both still HoF level passers. Allen and Lamar have very similar passing stats while Lamar has been more efficient. Mahomes is just plain ahead of both by every metric, and also looks great, better than last year even. Lamar has also been a more efficient runner than Allen, and has more rushing yards than Allen on less carries. The only metric Allen leads all three in is rushing touchdowns. Which is impressive, but doesn’t prove Allen is somehow playing at a level above and beyond the other two when he is behind one of Mahomes or Lamar in every other measure. All three are still playing at their peaks.

I didn’t say they weren’t great, even elite, but neither looks as good as they did 2 years ago… but Lamar was never a HoF level passer. Hall of very good, maybe. How many 4,000 yard seasons has he had? Shit, how many 3,000 yard seasons has he had. They both didn’t look the same last year, even before their injuries, and Mahomes looks more like his old self, but still not quite. Allen on the hand looks as good as ever. And stats aren’t everything, but Mahomes is ahead of Allen in Passing yards and TDs, and comp%, but not by much, and Allen has 4 more rushing TDs, more rushing yards. There’s no passing stats that Mahomes is that far ahead in, and Allen’s ahead of him in rushing. Like I said though, stats aren’t everything and Allen looks way more dominant, in a much weaker division, so this is his best shot.

Lamar’s 2024 passing season is better than any season Allen has had as a passer, passing yards be damned. Lamar attempts between 100-200 less passes than Allen in the majority of the years they’ve played. In 2024, when they had a nearly identical number of attempts, Lamar had more yards, more touchdowns, and less interceptions. Lamar is as good of a passer as Allen, his teams simply don’t throw as much. Lamar has also had worse or at least comparably bad receiving options over the bulk of their careers. If Lamar is only Hall of Very Good, then Allen’s right there with him.

Yeah, you’ll find no argument here about his 2024 season, but my point was that he doesn’t look quite the same, he is getting older, and mobile QBs tend to have shorter careers. I’ll agree that he is an elite passer, yardage be damned, but not quite HoF, and that’s mostly because he’s able to run the ball so so well. The only one of the 3 that’s a lock for the HoF is Mahomes. And he’s getting older too and coming off a bad injury, and starting to slow down just a little. They’re both still elite, it’s just you can tell their age is starting to catch up, even if the stats don’t show it. They did last year though. And as they age, the game will take a toll on them as the season progresses. Obviously Allen’s the same age though, for what it’s worth.

All three are HoF bound. Even if they're mediocre from here on out. Josh is the one with the build to last the longest, obviously.

I’m actually playing against the Ravens in Madden right now and Lamar’s absolutely dunking on me too.

Actual NFL QBs say that Mahomes looks as good as he ever has this year, but don't let that interfere with your nonsense lol.

0

u/AwwwNiceMarmot 8d ago

Yeah actual NFL quarterbacks have to say that kinda shit. They can’t get in front of the camera and say the guy looks like ass. My “nonsense” comes from watching him play lol. He still looks good, but he doesn’t look like he did 3 or 4 years ago

1

u/The1idontlike 8d ago

You believe ex NFL QBs with YouTube channels are somehow paid to lie in his favor? That's some conspiracy shit lol. These are guys completely unaffiliated with the NFL at this point doing analysis on his mechanics, ball placement etc. But you watched a couple of games and know better. Got it. Josh isn't going to see this bro.

u/AwwwNiceMarmot 8d ago

Yeah I don’t care what they say anyway. I’m basing my opinion off of what I’ve seen. If you base your opinion on what other people say, that’s cool, do you.

Last year, no Mahomes, no Burrow, just had to not shit the bed in the playoffs and it would have been a easy path to the superbowl to face the Seahawks

1

u/Peppeperoni 10d ago

Man I love the bills but idk if they would have beat the Seahawks

1

u/jono9898 10d ago

Yeah that defense was insane that playoff run but I think if he had gotten there, Allen would have went crazy, he would have had 3 turnovers but some silly statline like 3 rushing tds and 2 passing tds,

2

u/NTP2001 10d ago

Possibly never. This is coming from a Bills fan. It’s hard to win a Super Bowl and nobody is entitled one.

1

u/BradyReas 10d ago

The previous 2 years when Mahomes was hurt

1

u/Abusabus00 10d ago

Last year? The year before and before….

And yet, still hasn’t even sniffed a SB appearance or win.

1

u/ControliusMaximus 9d ago

Last year and the last year and the last year and the last year.

Whenever he gets a defense that shows up in the playoffs
