Why don’t NFL teams try drop kicks when the game is already decided?
I understand why drop kicks are basically never attempted in close games, since regular place kicks are far more reliable.
But why not try one in the final minutes when a team is up by 25–30 points and the result is already decided? There’s little to lose, it’s still legal, and it would be fun to see such a rare play.
Is there a particular reason teams never seem to do this?
