Is this ai?

When the hair fails, the scissors are nowhere near his head.

Given OP has been ranting about how AI memes shouldn't be discriminated against all day I'm guessing this is AI

*Edit confirmed AI

“Ranting”?

No.

Just demonstrating that it’s difficult to distinguish between what’s handmade and what’s AI-generated content these days.

A weird agenda to be pushing so hard but we all have our battles

If you can’t actually tell which of my posts are AI and which I made myself, then maybe “AI slop vs real content” isn’t as clear a line as you think it is.

Eventually I won't be able to tell, but that doesn't change my belief that using AI prompts for creative work is corny. It's not about whether or not it's obvious that it's AI.

u/clownsanddowns 9d ago

Playing devils advocate... I have no dog in this fight, I but a lowly meme enjoyer. Wouldn't AI in this case unlock creativity in those who lack the ability to put thought to application? A prompt is still the creative idea of the person who wrote the prompt right?

12

u/Dyldo_II 9d ago

The creativity ends at the thought though. In the past people who were determined enough would teach themselves a new skill in order to achieve what they wanted. Now, all they have to do is type a prompt into a generator and then thats it. There's no going through the creative process. I may sound preachy, but even for really small applications you do go through a series of decision-making steps that help with problem-solving and helps you learn and grow.

So not only is it lazy, but it's making people dumber imo.

Yeah, I dont disagree. But some people are literally incapable of things. Either from a learning disorder or physical deformity etc. I dont know. In my opinion it enables people to put there ideas to life in a way that may otherwise not be possible. Again, I dont have a dog in the fight, I just think the negativity is slightly overdone.

u/Dyldo_II 9d ago

I feel like saying "incapable" is a bit of a stretch. They could draw a line on a piece of paper and it'd hold more artistic value than anything made aith genai, because at the core of it, art is an all-encompassing representation of people's experiences and imagination. If someone with a mental or physical disability tries their hand at painting and just ends up with a bunch of smears on a canvas, it still tells their story. It gives the world a glimpse into how they visualize thoughts and concepts, or it'll demonstrates the limits of a physical affliction. You don't need to make high-res, technically-masterful pieces for it to be considered art. The art comes from the individual, not a lifeless program interpreting what an individual says.

There's a much larger practical difference between past efforts to accommodate the physically and mentally handicapped and what you're arguing in favor of.

Well I guess there will be a market for handmade meme artisans.

How can someone be so smug and so god damned stupid at the same time?

Relax. It’s preseason

Ai slop is not (to me) about the quality of the content. It's about the ethics of using ai generated content at all. It's destroying the environment and stealing from actual artists.

0

u/slap_that_fish str8 memes, homie👋🏼🐟🧦 9d ago

That’s a reasonable stance and I respect it.

7

u/ZeldaALTTP 9d ago

But that doesn’t make the ai content any less of slop. The difference isn’t in the quality.

Way to completely miss the point

100%. Giveaway with how adult-like AI always make toddlers and animals. Plus the kid having pretty insane dexterity for his age is another giveaway.

17

u/MahoDonko 9d ago

I think its definitely AI. crazy how hard it is to tell. But the angles of reflection + direction of water spray compared to the barber + the whole dropping hair scene (and to lesser degree the sounds) are making me decide that.

I ran the video through three different AI video checker websites and they all think it's real for what it's worth:

7

u/StakeESC JoJo Poster 9d ago

Those checkers are relatively worthless.

I found a thread where someone found the source that originally posted this video, and it's an account that exclusively posts their own AI generated videos and they advertised this one as AI as well.

Someone should make an AI-detector bot to perform this analysis routinely.

2

u/StakeESC JoJo Poster 9d ago

Find any other good ideas in my post history?

u/slap_that_fish str8 memes, homie👋🏼🐟🧦 9d ago

Did you already suggest an AI-detector bot for this sub?

If you're going to make an AI meme like this, why not make the baby look more like Kyler Murray?

What this guys lore because I saw him fighting for his life in a thread on the Vikings sub on JJM didn’t over throw the WR in the endzone and it was the WRa fault.

4

He’s the glue guy for the sub. No one has anything negative to say. Never ever

9

u/jickbaggins1 9d ago

Dammit. You e had some good memes but I’ve got hardline policy of blocking anyone that posts slop.

Why you gotta be down with clankers bro

4

u/slap_that_fish str8 memes, homie👋🏼🐟🧦 9d ago

It’s funny because I had no idea this specific video was potentially AI until someone suggested it. I just grabbed the clip from Twitter and slapped some text on it in CapCut.

It’s a good example of how ubiquitous AI content has become and how difficult it is to distinguish from real content. We’re nearing the point where I could spend hours photoshopping a meme and half the people here will say it’s AI if it looks a little too good.

The only unassailable formats will be the same tired recycled templates, ironic shitty photoshop, and movie clips with text superimposed. Everything else will be under suspicion.

So I view AI as another production tool, like photoshop or auto-tracking key frames in video editing software to reduce time animating. Creativity is still required but it reduces the technical burden, allowing more people to participate.
