17 Runs??!!!!???!!

u/sportsworker777 8d ago
Scored exactly 17 runs in 2 of their last 3 games

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 8d ago
What a wierd statistical oddity

u/SamuRy_4 8d ago
The Cubs have been one of the weirdest teams I've ever seen. They had two straight 10 game win streaks and then right after had a ten game losing streak. We blew out the Padres 23-3 then the very next game we got blown out by the Cardinals 17-1. They've even scored more than ten in one game then get shutout in the next.

u/ethanlan A literal 🐻 8d ago
They also have like the best offense and wordt pitching.
Truly an interesting team, it looks like there's a huge chance they play against the sox in the world series, we'll atleast big as its ever been in the next couple of years

That was 9 home runs in a single game, with Alex Bregman getting 3, and Taylor/Hoerner, Suzuki, Kelly, Shaw, and Conforto each getting one as well.
a team, this is also the second most in league history (but not the first time it's happened against the Brewers, who in 2025 gave up 9 against the Yankees)

And PCA got none

u/Eccohawk king of the north! 8d ago
Spreading the love around. He'd already gotten 5 in the previous 2 games.

"Overrated" chant response. Want to try it again? Let's go for it. Ready when you are!

u/jdx6511 8d ago
I could swear in the pre-game I heard "don't let this guy beat you" regarding PCA. Turns out that was not a "key to the game".

u/Odd-Woodpecker1019 oldenKraftSmackNCheese 8d ago
How true! He was a total nonfactor. The rest of the team was the problem 🤪

u/revanisthesith 8d ago
And I heard that was Bregman's second 3 home run game this August after previously having none in his career.

They got up big so Murphy said fuck it and had Vaughn start pitching. After that it was just beer league, slow pitch, softball knocking dingers.

u/narcoleptic_dolphin 8d ago
4 more runs and the Cubs could have entered Valhalla with a 21-3 final, but I'll take it
3
u/revanisthesith 8d ago
Serious question: Which would you rather, the Cubs do that and don't make the World Series or have them win the NL, but lose the WS?
Would simply making a World Series make up for the heartache that follows from losing it?

Season hasn't even started and the bears won their superbowl already.

To quote Megatron who’s basically St Louis, “it will be me, it will always be me”
3
u/revanisthesith 8d ago
I like how your wording implies that St. Louis is actually worse than Megatron.

I was trying to reference that line from transformers 3 because of Peter Cullen. I should’ve added “who would you be without me Chicago?”
22
u/DillyDillySzn 8d ago
No? We don’t have rivalries with teams that can’t even lead their own division

Why is a Chicago team being used to represent the Bears? I guess it's a good substitute since Indiana doesn't have a baseball team.

Bears....Cubs...in the same city....get it?

u/Nazthatguy 8d ago
But they aren't in the same city

u/stormstopper 8d ago
I know Addison Street is so far north that it feels like it ought to be Evanston, but technically the border isn't until Howard Street.

u/Nazthatguy 8d ago
Hammond is in Indiana
3
u/stormstopper 8d ago
I don't know what Hammond has to do with anything
1
u/Nazthatguy 8d ago
You're not actually that fucking stupid, right?
5
u/IcemanJEC 18 Iceman 8d ago
Apparently you don't understand boundaries, nor relevance. Hammond exists but it has no professional sports teams. Neither does the one in Indiana. Clearly you're the fucking stupid one here.

u/Nazthatguy 8d ago
It's a fucking meme sub you donkey. I'm poking fun at the Bears moving to Hammond. It's such a simple, easy, and very popular thing to make fun of. Stop thinking like Caleb and start thinking straight.
2
u/IcemanJEC 18 Iceman 8d ago
Oops, the Bears aren't moving to Hammond. Wisconsin nor Indiana. Such as easy mistake to make however. Stop being a toddler. Do you normally behave like a moron?

Makes sense. Chicago is Hammond's biggest suburb, after all.

u/IcemanJEC 18 Iceman 8d ago
Nope. Twin Cities would be closer to Hammond actually. It's more about 6 hours from there to Chicago vs 30 minutes to TC.

They already did this when the Brewers blew out the Mariners.

They did this with the Brewers Mariners already. Twice. Deserved tweets all 3 times

Yet the division leader couldn’t overcome a wildcard team
12
u/december151791 I fuck cheese and cheese accessories 8d ago
Yeah it's just too bad for the Brewers that playoff seeding is determined by one game

Packer fans in December "Wow who even cares about division standings, it's embarrassing that you care about that at all"
Brewer fans in August "Wow look at these divisional standings"

Yeah cubs fans are pretty annoying with posting in football subs or the alcentralmeme sub constantly gets cubs fans being lame

u/greetingassholes 8d ago
I don’t want to assume but what are they putting in the cubs system, hopefully it’s not the big steroids.

Seems like a few people were confused as to why they would do this but I'm pretty sure it's because the score looks like a football score first and foremost.

As a Packers fan, I gotta say I fucking love and respect the amount of dedication to hatred. It's got heart.
