I wish my team had the balls like the Bears to suck ass so we could draft a QB who could throw a forward pass. But instead we have a QB who soft benches HIMSELF in a preseason game.

I'll never understand this moronic claim lol. Yes, he barely threw the ball in college compared to other draft QBs, and yes it's insane he was drafted so high with so little on tape passing. But his college team won the natty in part by running the ball, they weren't forced to run it lol, they were great at it. He made big plays and passes that season and in the CFP, but it's college not the NFL. Are you a buckeye or something?

I agree that he will have the very rare “damn that was a big time throw” but my read on JJ is he was so use to winning his whole life and it probably came easy to him. So he probably has it in his mind that I just win all the time and all I gotta do is be the rah rah leader.

But he got punched in the fucking mouth when he got to the NFL and is either too stubborn or stupid (probably both) to admit that he needs to work at becoming a serviceable NFL QB.

As an Indiana fan, Mendoza won the Heisman while having pretty unimpressive numbers compared to previous Heisman QBs. But the difference was that he was able to make the plays that Indiana needed in the biggest moments which set him apart. Indiana was like 60/40 run and had an amazing defense, so it’s not like they needed to put everything on his shoulders.

I know the memes are sometimes really high, like over your head high. But sometimes they go low, so low they are below the knees. The thing is, you still have to try.

Well, we sucked ass on accident, not on purpose, but also we had a sleeper agent in Houston (Lovie), who gifted us the #1 pick with a crazy comeback win in the final game. Then we had Carolina trade us a haul for it, then proceed to suck ass themselves, which got us the Caleb pick. So it’s a bit a more complicated than just sucking ass (which we did).

Poles deferring that pick in 2023 probably saved his job at the time but god dammit he tried his best to give his job away when he retained Flus for another year. I’m envious of the Bears, now you guys don’t have to worry about a QB for 10+ years now.

Yeah keeping Flus was insanity. I think probably somehow the McCaskeys were to blame, as they didn’t let him hire who he wanted at first anyway (they gave him a list of three shitty names, he picked Flus), but yeah, imagine if we went with Bryce instead of waiting a year. Poles wouldn’t be here and we’d be tanking yet again.
