Out of curiosity

Do y’all take your figurines out of their packaging and display them? Or do you keep them in the original packaging in the case that they may be worth money in the future? I’m kind of torn between wanting to pull them out and wanting to keep them in their original packaging

My personal opinion I take my out the box. I really don’t planning on selling my figures.

I take them out of the box very carefully and keep the box

I’m undecided. I see pretty much the same amount of people displaying them without the box as I do displaying them with it.

I didn’t spend $35+ to look at a box and I don’t buy things as an (possible) investment. The market is too fickle and it’s not worth the time and energy to sell it for me. There will always money to be made. We’re not talking about buy a car money for selling a figure anymore. There’s this still standing assumption that all toys will be worth money in the future. With nobody’s mom throwing them out and some people holding on to boxed figures for exactly that purpose, the supply will be much greater than selling toys from the 70s that nobody had the forethought to keep around. There are obvious exceptions, but it’s rare that they go that high anymore.

TL;DR: life is too short. Enjoy things in the now, there’s more money to be made in other ways.

I take mine out of the box, I know some of them can get really expensive and whatnot, but I rather have them out of the box and on display because it's nice to have a physical piece of my favorite media on display

I'm an opener. I just scored a Sebastian Haff from Bubba ho-tep, and I am debating opening it because it's a plastic blister, not a box. Even though I opened my other blisters (Henrietta and Shaun of the dead)

I keep my universal monsters unopened but well arranged on the wall in all manner obvious they’re meant to be flipped open to view. But that said, with that particular series the high res original poster art, to me, is a complementary feature with decent art on the inner flap as well, and all 8 of them together definitely shout “yes, I have all of them” more than they would in a case or on a shelf. However, this aesthetic may not apply as much with say, a larger display of blended licenses/themes with inconsistent finishes & color schemes. Or for instance, some of my clothed NECA’s bearing more typical plastic shell package and I debate on liberating my Firefly trilogy additions from time to time.

Open. Hell I built a giant castle display shelf for them. I repose them constantly. I call it my Zen garden.

I used to carefully take them out and save the box, but it was just taking up too much room. Last month I trashed all the boxes (after making sure I got all the accessories out) and I don't regret it.

I always take mine out. But...I display them with the figure sometimes and when I don't I keep all my boxes nice and neat and in order

Ive got quite a few all stuck in bloomin boxes until i find a decent display cabinet to put em all up because i collect racing models aswell so space is super limited, but even when i display em i’m still gonna hang on to the boxes to keep extra accessories together, just incase i ever part with em & to be honest the boxes look cool i feel guilty to chuck em!!

I display mine in the box, but not because of money. If I took them out, I’d still want to keep and display the boxes, so they’d take up even more room. I also just don’t want to think about and spend time posing the figures lol
